Jaxon held up the man who had stumbled into the house.

"Another one?" his mother sighed. "This is the seventh one."

She helps the man lie down so she could inspect his wounds. The man had been severely beaten and burned with something that looked like the Elan coven's sigil.

"The coven is bloody insane. Going around marking shifters like they are cattle," Kai growled and slammed his fist into the wall. Elliott had entered the room hall filled with refugees from Elan Valley. Freya was among them.

"This is has gone too far. We other shifters are not even apart of the wolves. Why the hell are we targeted?"

"That is not really the point," muttered Kai but winced when she glared at them.

"You wolves mess up and the rest of us suffer."

"There are plenty of wolves here as well."

"But not as many as wolves run in packs! Not all of us do."

"Do you blame us even though we did not do this?" Jaxon asked and Freya went quiet when she heard the bitterness in his voice. "How are you any better than the coven?"

"At least we don't go around beating you up," Freya muttered.

"Jax may be a bloody twat but he has a point. We cannot go around blaming each other when this is the coven's doing," said Kai but Elliott just tiredly shook his head.

"This all started because of the death of Lewis at the hands of Mark."

"Who went after him to try to force Nottingwood to heal Ronan after he was cursed by Blake. Ronan attacked Blake. Fingal Keir attacked Blake and cursed Haley which set off the wolves and ensured Ronan's arrival. There is enough blame to go around but this will not be solved by blame," Alex said harshly. "We need to find Haley and Ronan. Both if need be. Most of all. Tell all shifters to defend themselves."

"That is not a solution," said Elliott.

"We cannot become the victims. That will only encourage the coven to do more harm on innocent people and you will lose the trust of your own pack who thinks you favor the witcher over them. I don't care for your sentiment but I have already told the other shifters to make some damage if the coven comes after them."

"That will only start a war."

Alex huffed and nodded to all the people curled up on the floor with blankets. Most were bandaged and the hollow look in their eyes spoke of the despair they experienced.

"The war has already started. You just refuse to fight it!"

"Son, he is right. This cannot continue. Wanting to vie for peace is only optional if both sides want it," Owen said and laid his hands on his eldest son's shoulder.

"Where is Blake?" Jaxon suddenly asked and looked around. Kai groaned and rolled his eyes.

"What are you a puppy?"

"They already wanted to kill him once. They might take this chance to do it again!"

Alex cocked an eyebrow at Jaxon's words. "You are smarter than you look."

"Blake is hidden away with Pyramus, Hamish, and Leon. He is safe.

"So he is in the company of a Dark Witch, a Druid and a member of the Elan Coven," Jaxon clarified.

"A former member of the coven," Alex corrected but that did not still Jaxon's worried heart.

"Calm your knickers. Your sweetheart is safe. You need to focus on the most important right now," said Kai, and Jaxon pouted and muttered that Blake is the most important.
