The minotaur, half-human, half-bull, sniffed the air. Like the bronze creation was able to smell anything. Then the thing came to a halt. It's body grated as it did, the head turning left and right as to try to locate them.
Alex's heart beat ferociously. Sweat crawled over his skin as he stared at the minotaur. The giant form slowly turned back to face the entrance and for a moment relief rushed through Alex as he thought the thing would go back the same way it came, then it looked up and Alex's heart stopped as his eyes met the minotaur's red ones.
All hope was gone.
A roar, as vivid as the cogs turning in the creature, bounced off the stone walls as Hadrien threw himself at the minotaur. His claws were out, and eyes glowed wildly as he clawed at the minotaur's eyes, hoping to find a weak spot there.
But this was no ordinary creature, and it hardly made a dent as Hadrien just slid off. His claw making a horrid sound as they scratched the bronze.
"Damn that stupid dog!" Alex thought bitterly, before he followed suit. Kicking the minotaur but soon find out that there must be a considerable weigh difference as Alex just bounced off. Alex landed graciously at his feet but had to roll out of the way when the minotaur's fist, as large as his head, came down upon him.
The ground creaked as it cracked and Alex grimaced at the thought of that being him. He turned to Hadrien. "We cannot just-"
Hadrien threw himself once more at the minotaur. This time at the thing's legs.
"-rush off..."
Alex wanted to pull him back by the neck but looked around instead. What could they...
His eyes fell upon the door up by the ceiling. It now stood lonely in the wall after the loss of the balcony. Maybe they could...
"Hadrien!" Alex yelled but Hadrien was to immersed in the battle, dodging and attacking the minotaur. Alex grabbed onto a pebble and threw it at Hadrien who groaned, staring at him.
" C'est pas vrai! How the hell can you miss?"
"I didn't!" Alex hissed and pointed towards the door. Hadrien frowned, dodging a wide attack coming in from the minotaur before looking back at Alex like he was insane.
"What?"
"Climb up, trigger the trap."
"I'm fairly certain that the minotaur cannot drown."
"No, but the doors will close. Locking it inside. Trigger the trap and then hurry outside before the door closes."
The realization hit Hadrien. "Why me?"
"Because I suck as climbing. I distract the minotaur. I'm stronger than you anyway."
Hadrien cocked an eyebrow, clearly amused, but didn't argue. At least not at the moment. Alex was sure that he would argue later on though. It didn't matter. Alex planned to prove his statement anyway.
The minotaur turned its head towards Hadrien, ready to stop him from climbing, but got hit in the head with a pebble. The thud echoed as the pebble bounced of its metal head that turned towards Alex who smirked, cracking his neck.
A minotaur is the highest form of a bull shifter. An anax. Lords of Shifter. In normal cases, a minotaur would be alone in their superiority as Anaxes are rare. Very rare.
Alex closed his eyes, facing his cat that purred. Eager to fight. In the dark void of his mind, they walked towards each other. Combining into one mind. Perfect synchronized. It was he and the cat any more. It was them together.
