it was 5:30 am. 2 weeks have passed by since yuli met alvaro. it's a nice, hot july, maybe not nice because of the heatwave but it was very calm in their block. but the hectic mess was only inside the castillo's house. "BUENOS DÍAS YESSI!" mamá valeria said as she woke up the girls from their sleepover. it was finally yessi's 18th birthday. "hi tia," yessenia said smiling at her aunt who was getting ready for the big party. "ven aquí mija," mamá valeria told yessenia. yessenia walked towards the living room. "when everyone of the girls turns 18, we have a big party for them, but they also get the ring." mama valeria explained to her niece. "like a quince ring?" yessenia asked with her morning voice it was raspy but pretty calming. "yes, but being 18 means finally being a legal adult, finally being able to prioritize yourself, finally working and getting more money," mama valeria explained. "we only give the ring to the girls, so yael and his nasty ass hasn't had it," mama valeria said making yessenia laugh. "yuliana still has it, but she presents it to you at the party," she explained. yessi only nodded her head, she wanted to go party already. "BUENOS DIASSSS!" they heard from the room, yuliana woke up. "HI YULI!" yessi yelled but lightly. this was the moment they've been waiting for, makeup, hair. the outfit wasn't gonna be so extravagant but it was something yessi was comfortable in.

after yuli & yessi went to go take pictures, they got to the salón. seeing most of their family except her dad's side of her family. everyone was usually closer to her moms side anyways. "sarahí!" yessi heard valeria say, they were both super close. "que no se te tiré!" valeria said with such concentration. bringing in 2 big vaporearas filled with pozole is not easy. "hey yessi!" yessi heard someone call out from the salon while she was fixing the balloons, everyone there wasn't ready to party yet, they were only helping. "hey, alvaro was it?" yessenia said to the kind boy walking in with a present in his hand. "yeah, happy birthday by the way, finally legal!" alvaro said handing her the present. "thank you!" she said giving him a hug. they both walked to the table where all the presents were. "so have you seen yuli?" alvaro asked quietly while playing around with a balloon. "no, actually, she was helping with the food but then she just disappeared," yessenia said laughing. "god, yuli always trying to help," alvaro said laughing at the thought of the girl he had grown to liked. "why are you here so early?" yessenia asked alvaro with a smile on her face. "i wanted to help you guys!" alvaro said smiling a bit. "alvaro!" a small voice said smiling at him from a far. alvaro got up and walked to the beautiful girl. "hi yuli!" he said while hugging the girl who was shorter than him. in alvaro's eyes, she looked amazing, she seemed perfect & happy. "look your dads side is coming in!" yuli said to yessenia as everyone smiled.

the salón started to get full at around 7:30 pm. yessenia was having so much fun, her family all together and her family just looking happy was a bonus. "quieres una?" alejandro asked alvaro, yuli & yessenia. they all responded with a nod and alejandro took them a beer each. as they drank their beers, they finally felt the brush of relief of summer. no school, no stress, no homework, but excitement for senior year. music starts to play and most of the family gets up to the dance floor. "come on let's dance!" yuli pulled alvaro's hand slightly. "okay okay fine, but im not that good," alvaro said laughing. it was true the boy was okay at any type of dancing but he wasn't great at it. alejandro pulled yessenia out to the dance floor, everyone dancing now. moving to the beat of the music, they all were smiling. "you know, i think about you all the time," alejandro told yessenia. "really?" yessi said looking down trying to hide her blush but only to fail. she had a pink creep of her cheeks and said "i do too,". "wanna go out on a date?" alejandro asked finally getting the balls to ask out yessi, his crush since ever. "yeah, i would!" yessi smiled at him and continued dancing.
"so i've been thinking," alvaro said as him and yuli were dancing. "how about i take you on a real date?" alvaro asked the shorter girl. she smiled at him softly, touched his cheek and said, "i would love that!" they both laughed and enjoyed the rest of the party. yessenia was finally 18!
