Engagement day

Astha's POV :-

I sighed looking myself at the mirror. I miss them. Today I am missing my parents immensely. I mean it's my first part of the big day...I need them to tell me that everything's gonna be okay and that I need not be worrying about it. I need my mom to tell me what to do and don't after I set foot in my new life and home just like every mothers do. I need my father to tell me that I exactly look like his princess even if my looks are far away from being that. A sole tear escaped from my left eye.

" Mam take this tissue. This will not let the mascara and kajal spread." The beautician pitied me. Or that's what I think!

" Thank you." I smiled at her and took the offered tissue.

I remembered how shocked I and his family were at his announcement yesterday. His mother even reprimanded him for always planning things suddenly. Aunty wanted a grand ceremony and she was preparing for it but this sudden announcement had crashed all her preparations. Uncle too scolded him for his unpredictability.

" What's the hurry, Abhay?" I had asked once we were on our way back to my place.

" Because I want to make you mine as soon as possible." Was his reply with a triumphant smile.

As usual a blush had appeared on my face but after sometime it was again replaced with confusion.

" But you said that we need to give us time to know each other. So....?"

" We can know each other fully after our marriage too." He had winked at me. " Besides since our wedding is ought to take place one day, so why not do it now. Right." He had said and then he had stopped the car on the sideways.

Holding my hands in his he continued, " Trust me Astha, I will make you happy and will always be there with you. I will never ever leave you, if that's what worrying you. Even if you beg me to leave." And how can one refuse to such adorable thing?

" You look so lovely Ashtha." Came my mother in law's voice bringing me out of my reverie.

I stood up and went towards her. I was bending down to touch her feet when she stopped me midway.

" No need for this, beta. Your place is here, not down there." With this she pulled me into a hug. I couldn't control the surge of emotions that hit me. Streams of tears started to ruin my makeup upsetting the poor beautician who had spent an hour on me.

" Don't cry child. I know you are missing your parents but don't think that you don't have one. I am too your mother, remember." She said and I nodded smiling. " And besides we don't want to ruin your makeup completely right." She laughed and wiped my tears. I too laughed at that and looked apologetically to the beautician who just sighed thinking of redoing for another couple of minutes.

" Aww! So touching." Samarth entered clutching his chest. " You two are adorable. Let no evil sight touch you." He said bringing some imaginary kajal from his eyes and doing a kala tika (black dot) on the back of our heads. We both laughed at that.

" Beta please fix her up quickly. The muhurat ( auspicious time) is about to start." Aunty said to the beautician.

" Okay mam." She said cheerfully probably feeling relieved that now finally her work will be over.

And after sometime she was done. She is pretty quick, I must say.

" Come beta, everyone is waiting for you downstairs.... including Abhay." Aunty smiled teasingly at me.
