"Wish you guys could stay a bit longer." Harper exclaimed as she led us out the door.
I nodded "Duty calls."
As we walked down the doorsteps Lia nudged me.
"Why did you come here?"
"To see her face."I replied and walked faster towards the car.
As we sat inside Lia took the wheel and Zack dozed off in the backseat.
It had not been two minutes and we could already hear his snores clashing with the calm music on the radio.
"And I thought caffeine was supposed to keep you awake." I laughed.
After some time we had to stop for gas. This gas station was different from the one we stopped at on our way here. The difference was that it had a shop.
While I was filling the fuel tank Lia came out of the small shop with five bags of chips which she bought with my money.
Zack was still sound asleep in the backseat in a rather uncomfortable position. With one foot on the right window and one sliding down from the arm-rest . One hand holding his mobile phone and one stiffly placed on the back of the backseat. There was some space between him and the backseat, probably because the seatbelt was hurting his back.
"Will you take that out already?" Lia said as she sat in the car.
I realised the gas pump was still in my hand and the tank had been filled for a while.
I sat back inside and Lia had already opened one of the bags.
"Want some?"
I refused.
"So why did you visit her? It obviously wasn't for some important business." Lia asked breaking the silence in the car after a while.
"I..wanted to see her face" I replied
She looked at me and made the face that said 'you are the dumbest human being on this planet'.
"I could've showed you a picture you know that right?"
I ignored the question. She now completely turned towards me and just stared directly into my eyes. It may have given me chills all down my body.
I looked back if Zack was awake but he was still silently snoring
"I needed to get something from her I can't tell you what right now so don't bother to ask."
She doesn't respond and turns back facing the empty road ahead. Was I too harsh? Ofcourse not how can I be harsher than Lia.
