CHAPTER EIGHT

The Sanctuary-2 hovered over the destroyed Avengers compound. An energy beam dropped to the ground and out stepped Thanos and a group of Outriders. "Daughter," He said into the comms.

"Yes, father," Nebula responded. She stepped out of the smoke, dirty and bruised.

"So, this is the future. Well done,"

"Thank you, Father. They suspected nothing," She said, peeling off the orange panels.

"The arrogant never do. Go, find me the stone. Bring them to me,"

"What will you do?"

Thanos took off his helmet, and sat down on a huge piece of debris, "Wait."

The underground garage was in ruins, Bruce gritted his teeth as he lifted the fallen ceiling off Rhodey and Rocket. "Canopy, canopy, canopy!" Rhodey yelled. His suit retracted open, and he sat up, grunting in pain.

"Rhodey, Rocket, get out of here!" Bruce told them, his arms starting to wobble from the weight he is holding on his arms. Rhodey crawled to where Rocket was stuck under the rubble. He painfully lifted it off and Rocket crawled out.

"Rhodey!" Bruce yelled. A wave of water came crashing on them. They struggled to keep their heads above water.

In the ruins of the tool shop, Scott--now shrunken-- sat up between the debris. He heard Rhodey's voice through the comms, "Mayday! Mayday! Does anyone copy? We're on the lower level. It's flooding,"

"Wait, what?" Scott asked, still dizzy from the fall.

"We're drowning! Does anyone copy? Mayday!"

"I'm here! Can you hear me?"

Clint lay face down in an access tunnel. He groaned as he sat up, realizing he was on top of the gauntlet. It was a little deformed, but the stones were still intact. "Cap? Stark? Does anyone copy?" His question was met with static. He heard a scraping noise. Slowly, he pulled a flare arrow from his quiver and shot it into the dark tunnel, illuminating the hoard of Outriders that were crawling on the wall.

Panicking, Clint picked up the gauntlet in one hand and pulled out his sword in the other and ran through the access tunnel, the alien creatures chasing after him.

Gamora watched the chaos that her father caused from the Sanctuary-2. She walked into the interrogation room, where Nebula sat. Nebula stared at her, studying her every move, "Tell me something," Gamora started, walking towards her, "In the future, what happens to you and me?"

"I try to kill you. Multiple times," Nebula said. Gamora rolled her eyes. "But, in the end, we become friends. We become sisters,"

Gamora extended her arm to Nebula. She hesitated, before accepting it, and rising from the floor with Gamora's help.

Tony limped through the ruins of the lab, holding Steve's shield. He found him knocked out, "Come on, buddy, wake up," he said, nudging him with his foot. Steve woke up with a harsh gasp, "That's my man," Tony kneeled down, holding out the shield, "You lose this again, I'm keeping it,"

"What happened?" Steve asked.

"You mess with time, it tends to mess back. You'll see," he said, patting him on the shoulder.

Steve and Tony reached the opening end of the crater, where Thor stood, silently watching Thanos. "What's he been doing?" Tony asked.

"Absolutely nothing," Thor answered. As if sensing their presence, Thanos looked at them. "Where are the stones?" Steve asked.
