Highschool Love

Chapter 2

All the boys stopped their teasing and looked around for Niall.
"We can't leave him alone he'll get lost. I'll tell you what let's split up and text each other when we find him." Liam continued with the concern evident in his voice now.
"I'll take the john and the water-fountains." Zayn stated.
"I'll check the hallways." Louis casually mentioned.
"I'll look outside." Said Harry
"I'll check the lunch area." Liam called as he walked off.
The boys split up looking for Niall. Niall on the other hand was about to cause a major issue. Deciding to try to find his way outside once the boys started bickering he had wandered down a hallway and now had no clue where he was. And top that off he had no cell phone service.
"As if I could have used it anyway." He muttered to himself.
Why did we even have to move anyway, he thought. I miss my friends. I miss my small school. I miss my entire life.
The boys in the meantime had reconvened trying to come up with a new plan.
"Are you sure you checked all the hallways Louis?"
"Yeah. Well except for the emergency exit one. I doubt he would..."
"He has to be there, he wouldn't know what the hallway was for." Liam voiced with a small tinge of anger at Louis for not checking that hallway, and frustration at
himself for leaving Niall out of their group.
The boys took off walking as fast as they could towards the hallway. When they got their they all rushed through the door.
"Niall!" They called in unison.
"Oh, hey guys, I guess I got lost trying to find my way outside. That's what happens when your parents make you skip orientation because you were sick."
" You were sick?" Louis cried out dramatically. " Oh no, I'm going to die!"
"Louis, chill. You're not going to die."
"Oh, thanks great friend you are Z." Louis said sarcastically.
"Anyway, I'm sorry for running off." Niall spoke.
"It's ok. We may have overreacted a little." Liam confessed.
"Then again we may not have."
"What do you mean Harry?" Liam asked as the boys turned towards him.
"There is no way to open this door from the inside." Harry said demonstrating his point by pushing on the door.
"Seriously Harry, that's not funny in the least." Louis commented sarcastically as he strode over to the door. He proceeded to push on the door. It wouldn't open. His face began to turn red as his tensed body strained against the door.
"Let's try this door over here, it has a handle on it." Niall offered as he pushed the door open.
Beep! Beep! Beep!
It was then that Niall realized that he had set off the fire alarm.
"Let's get out of here!" Louis cried.
The five boys rushed out of the building to see kids pouring out of the exits. They quickly joined a crowd as they headed over to where they could see the teachers directing them.
"This is perfect, the first day at a new school and I set off the fire alarm." Niall said despairingly.
"Shush Niall, we're going to act like we had nothing to do with it." Louis said in a demanding voice.
"Louis that's wrong. It wasn't Niall's fault. He didn't know. I say we tell them the truth and get everything arranged." Liam said in his parent voice.
"And be in a ton of trouble on the first day? I think the fuck not." Louis hissed back.
"My parents are going to kill me." Niall said desperately.
"Relax Niall, you'll get through this. It wasn't your fault. I'm sure we can work something out." Harry said soothingly.

The boys heard the loud sound of the fire truck sirens as it rushed towards the school. They stopped talking as they watched the firefighters rush out of the truck. The chief came over to talk to the principal, and after talking to him sent two men in. A few hours later, the kids were finally allowed back in. However they didn't go to separate classes, the entire student body headed into the auditorium.
"Students, please take your seats. As I'm sure you have already realized that there isn't a fire going on, but that doesn't change the fact that we spent almost three hours waiting for that to be confirmed. The alarm system was tested and it has been determined since the system is fine, somehow the alarm was set off."
Niall squirmed around in his seat as Harry and Liam tried to calm him down. Louis and Zayn looked unbothered except for the fact that Louis was twisting his hands together.
"I understand that this is the first day, and a new school to some of you, but we need to be careful." The principal spoke for a few more minutes about fire safety. Before sending the kids off to the cafeteria.
" Whew that was close." Louis said as soon as they were out of earshot.
"I still feel like we should make it right." Liam commented.
"Easy for you to say. Besides it was just an accident.." Louis was answering back.
"Exactly, it was just an accident." Liam said helpfully.
"Liam James Payne I was not done talking." Louis said curtly. "As I was saying, it was just an accident and their not concerned with who did it, just that we all be more careful. I say we move on and don't talk about this."
The boys agreed and headed for the lunch line. However Harry couldn't stop thinking about Louis reaction. The day passed to quickly for the boys. All except for Harry who now had a million questions. Why did Louis act so concerned about getting in trouble? I mean not even halfway through the day, he could already tell he was going to be a trouble maker.
