Don't Look Like A Dog

"Wow.." Fallon trailed off, raising her hand to block out the sun from her onyx eyes, "Haven't been here in a while."

JJ hummed in agreement as he stepped beside her. "Nope. The last time we were here-"

"I almost fell off the lighthouse." Fallon cut him off, giggling at the memory. At the time, the experience was horrifying, worse than horrifying. In a way, Fallon used humor to cope with the experience. "And died horribly. Ha... Anyway-"

"Right," John B started, turning away from the lighthouse and walking towards them. "So, what's gonna happen is you're gonna post up and look for bogeys, okay?"

"Fuck yes." Fallon nodded, squeezing her hands together as she grinned at John B. "I've always wanted to be a watch in a super-secret treasure hunt plan."

"Wait, why me?" JJ asked as Fallon shrugged.

"What, don't wanna be alone with me?" Fallon teased as tears welled up in her eyes. She sniffled loudly, shaking her head as the tears fell from her eyes. John B's back straightened as he sent a scolding look to JJ. Kie frowned, reaching forward as Fallon covered her face with her hands.

"Wha- No! Of course I wanna spend time with you! Wait, are you crying?" JJ asked, "Fallon, I-"

The crying came to an abrupt halt as Fallon pulled her hands away from her face, "Acting classes paid off, didn't they?"

Pope groaned loudly, rolling his eyes. "Fallon! You scared us!"

Fallon shrugged with a laugh, wiping the crocodile tears from her cheeks, "Gotta practice to make it, don't I?"

"I still don't get why I have to stay back." JJ interjected, changing the subject back to the original topic.

"Because you're not coming." Pope deadpanned, causing JJ to

"Why?" JJ shook his head.

Pope huffed, looking at the boy in disbelief. "There are independent and dependent variables. You're independent, we don't know what you'll do."

"Shut up." JJ hissed, pointing at Pope as the boy continued to ramble about variables. "Shut up!"

"JJ," Fallon started carefully. "Calm do-"

"You're independent!" Pope defended loudly as John B struggled to calm the stubborn blond. Fallon huffed, crossing her arms as she listened to Pope and JJ's arguing. "We don't know what you'll do!"

"Shut up!" JJ shouted, rolling his eyes. Kie huffed, muttering in annoyance under her breath as she shared a look with Fallon. "Shut u-"

"Just listen to me, okay?" John B snapped, causing the arguing to silence. "Pope, you stand lookout with Fallon and JJ, okay? If we get split up, we meet back at JJ's house."

Fallon furrowed her eyebrows, her eyes shooting to JJ's face to assess his reaction. "Great."

"I'm gonna work on my merit scholarship essay, and I'm trying to keep the felonies to a minimum." Pope said, waving to Kie as she disappeared with John B.

Fallon shrugged, kicking the ball back to JJ. "Good luck with that with this one."

"Hey!" JJ scoffed, his foot dropping as he reached over and jokingly shoved her. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

Fallon rolled her eyes as her lips curved into a grin, "Just saying!"

"Hey, you mind if I just relax on this one?" JJ asked, "It's been a long day and a lot of weird stuff's gone down. I'm-I'm just gonna lay low. Oh, did you want a hit of this?"
