Old Feelings

I cover up
So you won't see me break
Throw all your sticks and stones
They'll never make me ache

The venom you spit
With every single kiss
All the honey you drop
Just so you can sting

Your promises are broken
Your words are empty
Your truth is a lie
And your love is failing

The Word, your enemy
Your opponent
The only one you can't refute
Cause nothing else stands a chance
Even with your well built arguments

Be as polite as you want
You're as good as it gets
Until you read your Bible
And accept You need to start all over again
Such a young age to understand
The weight of salvation
You should renew your vows
Not give some lame explanation
We know trees by their fruit
It's sad to see you so empty
When you have so much potential
And you're wasting it pretending
Pretending to be someone you don't want to be
Just cause your parents make you think "it's what's best for me"
Guess what
You're not happy, it will never do
If you keep searching for things to fill the gap inside you
