"It's not just me who notices how different Bleu is acting, right?" I asked as her and her family departed the dining room.
"Not just you." Rachal replied, "Did you notice she keeps calling herself selfish?"
"Every time she apologizes she says it." Anne added.
"She said it to me yesterday morning. She said she was being selfish by thinking she could be a cook. She told me she's gonna finish her law degree and marry a doctor like her mother wants." I added as we made our way into the kitchen with the dirty dishes.
Harry frowned, "I don't want to have to become a doctor."
Mitch chuckled, "As if you're smart enough for that." Harry swatted his arm playfully in reply.
"Boys! Focus." Anne scolded. "We need to help Bleu realize that it is her life, not her mothers."
Rachal frowned, "I don't know how we'll do that. For as long as I've known her, she hasn't ever apologized for wanting to be a cook. She would never have accepted Harry's gift without paying every dime for it if her mother was not influencing her. Now, she's accepting everything to not be 'selfish and ungrateful' and she's agreed to stop wanting to be a cook."
We all thought for a second at her words before Mitch spoke up, "It was Harry who set it off."
Harry opened his mouth in surprise, "What did I do?"
Anne realized the same thing Mitch did and spoke before he could, "You brought her here. She just went through a fight with her mother and was dealing with her break up with you, then you introduce her to your loving relationship with me and try to get her to fall for you again. You made her life feel like drama with you."
She stopped speaking and allowed Mitch to explain the rest, "With you, she has the worry of anything that she does could ruin your reputation, you could fall for someone else, and you could break her heart like you did before. She wouldn't have that same worries with a nice doctor she meets. Your relationship with Anne only proved that further. She wants that with her mother so she feels like she must meet all of her mothers standards to have that. It would be 'selfish' for her to not go to the easy way. She thinks she's ruining everyone's lives."
Harry was speechless at their words, and I felt for him. When Harry falls for a girl, it happens extremely fast and almost always they pretend to reciprocate the feelings but when you see them together you can see how it truly is. With Bleu and Harry, even when they yell at each other you can see the love between the two. But, they both have images they want to live up to.
Images that don't include each other.

"How is it sunny here right after Christmas?" My dad asked as we walked through Disneyland.
"I'm not complaining." Adam replied. "You should move here, dad and mom."
My mother scrunched her nose, "No thank you. Our home and your fathers job would not be able to come here."
My dad threw his arm over her shoulder, "We'll retire here, babe."
"In your dreams." She replied.
The rest of the day was spent on all of the rides Disneyland had to offer. It was a literal dream. But, I was happy to be heading back to Harry's as I was going to sleep the second I touched my bed.
I opened the door to his home, "Hello!" I yelled out.
"Bleu!" My mom scolded, "How dare you do that in someone else's home."
I nodded as the everyone came into view, "You're right, I'm sorry." I turned to Harry, "I'm sorry." I made my way into the kitchen for a water bottle, passing all of their shocked expressions.
All I did was apologize for my rude actions — no need for them to treat me like I'm going crazy. I was enjoying myself in LA, but it wouldn't last, nothing ever did. The only thing that would last would be my law career and a marriage with a doctor. Maybe settle down and have some kids, a nice home in the suburbs. How perfect that would be. It would result in a perfect relationship with my parents as well. So in the end, it was a win win.
"Angel?" Harry stuck his head into kitchen as I opened my water bottle.
I cocked my eyebrow, not even bothering to say anything about the pet name, "Whats up?"
"Are you alright?" Harry asked, walking closer to me.
I laughed, "Of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?"
He was silent for a moment before he finally gathered all his words. "Well, you've just been calling yourself selfish a lot lately, ya know? I just want to make sure you're okay. The Bleu I knew was unapologetically herself and now the only thing you want to be is someone else it seems like."
I scoffed, "The Bleu you knew got her heart broken. Wonder who did that." I shoved past him, knocking our shoulders together lightly.
Everyone had went to their rooms so I ignored Harry's yells for me to come back and went straight to the room I was staying in. I immediately laid down in the bed — not even changing out of my clothes and fell asleep immediately.
