Chapter Two

When I woke up the next morning, I saw a duffel bag at the bottom of the bed. I got up and opened it. I found my toothbrush bag and my clothes in it. I grabbed a baby blue tank top, black shorts, bra and thong before I walked into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and hopped into the shower.

After I finished getting dressed, I put my dirty clothes in a bag and put everything back into the duffel bag. I heard someone knocking on the door, and when I opened it, I saw Elijah standing there. "Good morning Melody."

"Good morning Elijah."

I saw him pull on his pants. "Are you hungry?"

"Starving."

"Follow me," he says. I closed the door behind me as I walked out of the room. I followed him down to the kitchen. When we walked in, I saw William and Ben sitting at the table.

William smiled at me and he says, "Good morning Ms. Rose."

"Good morning William and please call me Melody."

He nods as he checked me out. "You look nice."

"Thank you." I sat down next to him and I saw Elijah sitting next to Ben.

William pulls an empty plate off the stack next to him. "I'll fix breakfast for you."

"You really don't."

Before I can finish my sentence, Elijah laughs. "Just let him or he won't let it go."

"Fine." I watched as William clapped before he walked away from the table. "Does he always act like a kid?"

Ben laughs and says, "Only with food." I nod at him, and he looked down at his plate.

When William came back I saw that he brought my favorite breakfast. "How did you?"

He cuts me off and says, "I can read people."

"Well, thank you." He nods at me before he took Elijah's plate and walked off. He came back a few minutes later, with the same thing that I have. Pancakes biscuits and orange juice.
Elijah looked at me and says, "I hate eggs."

"I feel the same way." He smiled, and we started eating. Right before I can finish the last of my pancakes, I heard an alarm go off. I covered my ears as I looked at Elijah. Then we heard gunshots, and everyone jumped up from their chairs.

Elijah came over to me as William and Ben ran out of the kitchen. When William came back he says, "Fernando's men are here."

"Who's Fernando?"

Elijah looks at me. "The man who killed your father and who wants you dead." Before I can say anything, he pushed me over to William. "Take her to her room and get her things ready. We are leaving."

William grabbed my hand. "Come on." I had to run to keep up with him and I sat down on the bed when we got into my room.

"Wait, if they are trying to kill me, do you think they'll go after my mother, brother and his family?"

William looks at me. "Who's your brother?"

"Kevin Rose."

He laughs and says, " Kevin can protect himself and his family. I'm not sure about your mother, but you can ask Elijah about that."

"What do you mean Kevin can protect himself and his family?"

Before he can answer, the door opens, and Elijah walks into the room. "Kevin is a part of my group and he's one of the best I've ever seen." He looked at my duffel bag before he looked at me. "Is everything still in it?"
