When I woke up, I found myself in an unfamiliar room. I saw Elijah sitting on the end of the bed. "Did you know that you're a heavy sleeper when you're exhausted?"

"I figured that out once or twice." I looked around the room before I looked at him. "Where are we?"

He walked over to me. "We are in my parents' house in Seattle."

"I'm guessing Angelo is here."

He nods. "Yes, he is. I hired him to be your bodyguard."

"I'm fine with that as long as he doesn't kill me."

I heard laughter by the door, and when I looked over I saw Angelo. "As long as you don't piss me off I won't have a reason to kill you."

Elijah looks at Angelo. "Even if she pisses you off, you will not lay a finger on her. Are we clear?"

Angelo sighs and backed out the door. "Yes."

Elijah says, "Good." He looked at me. "Melody please try not to piss him off."

"I can't guarantee that I won't, but I'll try."

He laughs, and I smiled at him. "Good." I watched as his smile disappeared, and he looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry for hitting you, it was a natural reflex."

"I'll take your apology into consideration."

I watched as his jaw dropped. "You will think about forgiving me."

"Yes, I will, do you have a problem with that?"

He looks at me. "No, I don't have a problem with that." I looked at him and before I can say anything someone opens the door. I looked over, and I saw a lady coming into the room. "Melody, this is my mother, Gemma Luciano. Mom, this is Melody Caitlyn Rose."

Gemma smiled at me. "It's nice to meet you, Ms. Rose."

"It's nice to meet you too, Mrs. Luciano."

She laughs as she hugs me. "You can call me Gemma and has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are?"

"Just my dad, but I always thought it was his job to do that."

We started laughing. "It is always a father's job to tell you how beautiful you are. But it's a man's job to appreciate your beauty." She looked at Elijah as she put the tray in his hands. "Anyway, I'll let you eat."

Elijah says, "Thank you, Mom."

"Thank you for the food, Mrs. Luciano."

She smiles at us. "You're welcome." Then she walked out of the room, closing the door behind her.

"Can I ask you a question?"

He looks at me. "Sure."

"If my father never asked you to protect me, would you still do it?"

He looked away from me, and I thought he wouldn't answer my question. "Yes, I would."

"Why?"

He sighs and sat down next to me. "Because I met you a few years ago at one of your father's parties and even though I accidentally spilled both of our drinks on you, you never acted out of anger."

"Wait, that was you?" He nods at me, and I hit his arm. "You ruined my dress that day."

He laughs and pushed my shoulder. "I know I even paid for it to get cleaned." When I looked at him I saw that he zoned out on me. "That day I couldn't keep my eyes off you."

"Why?"

He smiles at me. "You looked so beautiful and I loved seeing you smile."

"I looked for you throughout the night and when I couldn't find you I thought you left."
