In the middle of the night, I heard a weird noise outside, and I woke up. Elijah got up, and he walked over to the window. He says, "Dammit." He pulled out his phone before he looked at me. "This house is officially on lockdown." He typed some things into his phone and I saw shields coming down on the windows.

There was a knock on the door, and his father walked into the room. He looks at me before he looks at Elijah. "What's going on?"

Elijah sighs and says, "We are under attack."

"Who?"

He looked at me. "Lorenzo." He looked over at his father and I saw him swallow hard.

"He wants me, doesn't he?"

Antonio sighs as Elijah says, "Yes and now that we have taken out Fernando they will try to get you."

"So, I won't ever be safe again?"

He walks over to me. "Not unless I kill all of them." He looks at his father before he looked at me. "The ones who doesn't want you, will be the ones that gets away."

I heard Antonio say, "Do you love her?"

Elijah smiles and says, "Yes, I do."

He walked over to us and he put his hands on our shoulders. "Well Melody welcome to the family. We do everything to protect our family and if that means killing all of them, then so be it." He took my hand in his and kissed it before he looked at Elijah. "I'll call Vincenzo and I think it's time that she meets the rest of the family."

Elijah smiled at me. "Pack your duffel bag, we are going to California." I packed all the clothes that the maid washed for me yesterday back into my bag. Then I changed my clothes, and I went to brush my teeth. When Elijah came back I finished zipping up the bag, and he looked at me. "Ready."

"Yes, I am." He took my duffel bag, and I grabbed my phone as we walked out of the room. When we got downstairs, I saw his parents and Grace waiting for us with their bags. "Are those people still outside?"

Elijah looked at me, and before he can say anything, I heard something bang into the metal. "Does that answer your question?"

"Yes, but how are we getting out of here?"

Antonio laughs and says, "Help is on the way." One minute we heard banging all over the house, and the other minute we heard nothing. When Antonio's phone rang I jumped and grabbed Elijah's arm. "You okay?"

"I'm fine."

Gemma laughs and says, "It was way too quiet in here so even I jumped when your phone rang."

He nods at us as he answered his phone and when he hung up he says, "Vincenzo and his men are outside waiting for us."

"Where's Angelo?"

Elijah laughs and says, "Outside with his father."

"Father?" He nods at me before he looked at his phone. Then I saw and heard the shields moving from around the house. When Elijah opened the door, Angelo and an older-looking man walked into the house.

Angelo looked at all of us. "Everyone okay in here?"

Elijah nods, and he looked at us. "We are all okay." Then he turned to the older-looking man. "Thank you for coming when my father called."

The older man says, "I will always come when a Luciano calls for help." He looks at me as he steps forward and extends his hand. "It's good to see you again, Melody." I put my hand in his as I nod at him, and he kissed it.

"It's good to see you too, Mr. De Santos." When he let go of my hand Elijah took it, and I looked at him.

He smiled at me before he looked at Vincenzo. "Vincenzo is a family friend."

Vincenzo laughs and says, "Your father, and I have been through so much together I think we can even say that we became brothers."

Antonio laughed as he put his hand on Vincenzo's shoulder. "Brothers who help each other in the time of need." I watched as Grace started falling asleep and she rocked from side to side on her feet. I caught her when she fell, and she wrapped her arms around me. "We should probably get going." He took her, and Elijah grabbed her bag.

Vincenzo looks at us. "Would you like a ride to the airport?" Elijah nods at him, and we followed him to his car. We all got into the car and I watched as Angelo got on his bike. When we got to the airport Vincenzo dropped us off at the gate. "See you all in California."

Elijah says, "See you there." Then he closed the door and picked up both bags. He walked over to the gate, and the guards opened it for us. We walked all the way to the plane, and the pilot told us they are ready to takeoff. When we got on the plane Elijah put the bags in the booth and he sat down next to me.

I buckled up before I put my head on his shoulder, and he kissed my forehead. "Wake me up when we get there."

He laughs and says, "Okay." I closed my eyes, but I couldn't fall asleep.

I heard Gemma say, "Do you love her?"

He whispers, "Yes, I do. But I think I ruined things between us." He moves the hair out of my face before he continues. "I have never met a woman who can challenge me and get away with it. She's not like all the other women I've been with and I like that about her."

I moved around a little and I felt him lean over me. Then I felt the seat go back a little, and I opened my eyes. "What are you doing?"

He looked at me. "Making you more comfortable."

"You didn't have to do that."

He moves closer to me as he whispers, "I know, but I wanted to." He kissed me before I can say anything, and I smiled at him. "Get some sleep." He took my hand, and I closed my eyes again. I held on tighter when he tried to pull his hand away and I heard him laugh. I felt his lips against my forehead as I started falling asleep. "I love you."

When Elijah woke me up, he told me we are in California. I opened my eyes and looked at him. He helped me unbuckle myself before he got up and pulled me to my feet. I stumbled a little as I tried to wake myself up, but he held onto me the entire time. "Let's go wash your face, that will wake you up."

I laughed as he helped me to the bathroom and he held onto me while I washed my face. "You know that you can let go now."

He laughs and says, "Too bad." When he finally let go of me I almost fell again, and he caught me. "See, that's why I didn't let go of you."

It took me a few minutes more before I can finally stand on my own. "Are you awake now?"

"Yes, I am."

He laughs and says, "Let's go." We walked out of the bathroom, and he grabbed my bag. "Mom, Dad and Grace are already on their way to the house." I nod at him as he took my hand, and we got off the plane.
