Chapter 21

Have you ever had a feeling that when you lose someone, time stands still?. That everything around you slows down. You don't know how to breathe. And everything goes black? Like the last bit of light in a fucked-up world disappears. And you don't know how to move on?

big raindrops sliding down Chloe's neck. chasing after the group. looking for another place to survive. a new place where they'll be safe until it's all over.

"I'm sorry Chloe we had no choice, we miss her too, but if I hadn't made this decision we'd all be dead, you know that." Aubrey puts a hand on Chloe's shoulder, the only thing she can do is be there for the ginger no matter how hard it gets.

the fun time, the time where you didn't have to worry about food ending up on your plate today, you could laugh at the crazy things friends did, you were with your girlfriend, you didn't have to worry about someone disappearing, although now you know for sure that time no longer exists.

"I just can't believe she's gone now" slowly a tear rolls down her cheek, covering that moment...

2 hours earlier...

"Did you hear that too?" Aubrey and Stacie shot up from a loud bang. Slowly they get up and carefully walk to where the bang took place. The rest of the girls are behind them.

Stacie looks through a small hole and sees a large group of armed people at the door where the bang apparently came from, in the pouring rain.

"shit, uhm we've got a small problem, well it's not small" Aubrey walks past Stacie to see what she means.

"oh fuck me"

"Aubrey, we don't have time for this right now."

Aubrey rolls her eyes around the big brunette's answer. "No, I don't mean that. I mean, we have to get out of here. If you pack your stuff, we'll leave in five through the back exit."

Everyone nods and runs to their room, except Aubrey who goes to Beca's room, where Chloe sits waiting for the brunette to wake up.

"Chloe, we have a problem."

Her head shoots up and looks at Aubrey asking questions, with the pain still in her eyes for the brunette.

"the hospital is about to be invaded and it's too many people we can't handle, we have to leave you have 5 minutes, actually less"

"Wait, what about Beca?"

"I'm sorry Chlo...she's holding us back, I don't think she's gonna make it, we have to leave her behind"

"You can't ask me to do this. I won't do it. I'm not leaving her here." She raises her voice. How can Aubrey ask her to do this? What does she think, leaving Beca here?

"Hey grab less chatter, we're not coming back here, better clear out just in case" says Amy standing in the doorway.

"What are you talking about?" She says when she looks at the expression on Chloe's face.

"Amy...we have to leave Beca here, we'll lock the room so they can't come in, but we can't guarantee she'll wake up either."

"I understand... I've already prepared myself for this, I think everyone does, I'm going to miss that hobbit"

"we can't give up hope, I'm sure she'll open her eyes soon."

"Chloe, this is what Beca wanted, let's go." Aubrey grabs Chloe's hand and pulls her out of the room.

"I haven't even said goodbye yet, please give me a minute with her."

"you'll get a minute I'll see you in a minute" they nod at each other, Aubrey walks on to get stuff for her and Chloe, while Chloe goes into the room where Beca lies quietly on the bed.

"I haven't got long, I don't know if you can hear me either, but know you'll always have a place in my heart. I'm going to try to keep the promise I made with you, it's going to be hard mate if that's what you want me to do, now that I think about it, do I think you've expected this or not? i love you with all my heart and not a day goes by that i won't miss your beautiful smile" she kisses Beca's forehead and smells the natural scent of the brunette for the last time, then she leaves the room. with the key they found at the reception the ginger locks the door while tears roll down her cheeks.

Aubrey comes running and without hesitation she takes the ginger in her arms, she knows how hard it must be for her.

A loud bang and voices of strange people fill the hospital.

"Hurry up, everyone is already outside at the exit" Aubrey whispers, taking Chloe by the hand and dragging him along. Once more she looks back, with the last tear rolling down her cheek.

"Where's Beca?" asks Emily when everyone's suddenly outside.

"We... she stays here."

everyone actually saw it coming, but wouldn't believe it, their captain, the hobbit, short steck, it just felt weird. the badass, the lover, the boyfriend gone, someone who doesn't come back.

"We're going to miss you Beca, but for now girls we have to go, we don't want to end up like the rest" a gentle nod comes from everyone before they run away.

"Chlo...? "Chloe's gonna be taken out of her mind when she sees Emily walking next to her.

"Hm?"

"I just wanted to say, I'm so sorry, I can't imagine what it must feel like to leave your love behind.

"It's for the best, maybe she never would've recovered."

"I know we don't get along much, but know I'd always be there for you" she gives a friendly smile to Chloe who does the same back and then walks away from the hospital together with the group, on their way to new woes they have to face, only now without Beca Mitchell...
