Kirishima hadn't been eating or sleeping right since they got separated. He thought back to the start of the trial, standing in front of the mirror holding the razor blade. He had wanted to run it down his arm like he'd done so many times before but something stopped him. The image of Bakugou that followed him around whispered in his mind not to do it, go talk to someone please, it whispered. So he had went and found Togita and told him what was going on, and he recommended Kirishima find something to distract him and suggested he hang around with Eri. The little girl had been abused most of her childhood, but she was almost always smiling and Kirishima felt better being around her.
They played doll house, and had tea parties. She loved to read, or use Kirishima for piggy back rides. After a few days he started to feel a bit better, but at night his mind drifted back that sexy blonde mess and the depression came back in full swing. So he spent most his nights working out and keeping busy, and his days with little Eri. With everything beginning to go relatively smooth sailing Kirishima's confidence about passing this trial started to grow.
About a month and a half into their suspension everything went wrong. Kirishima was laying awake one night when he heard a huge bomb blast from the school.
He rushed out into the hall and ran into Mr. Aizawa. He looked pissed and told Kirishima to stay in his room but to be prepared if necessary. Kirishima started to argue but the look he got was one that said that Aizawa wasn't in the mood to argue.
Kirishima went back into his room and closed the door, he waited till he couldn't hear any footsteps and stepped out into the hallway. He heard Eri's scream echo throu the hall and took off for her room as two more explosions sounded from the direction of the first one.
No time to worry about that he had to get to Eri. As he made it to her room he saw her huddled against the wall her eyes wide with fear, and full of unshed tears.
"It's alright I'm here to protect you, stay here and stay quiet ok."Kirishima smiled trying to reassure her.
Before he could leave she ran and jumped on him clutching his arm so tight it made Kirishima wince. He had to think fast to keep her out of danger.
"Here will you hold on to this for me it's very special it will keep you safe ok." He said taking off Bakugou's hoodie and putting it on her.
"Stay here and it will protect you ok, but you have to be brave and stay quiet." Kirishima felt his heart grow a bit colder once he removed the hoodie, but he knew she needed it more.
Eri huddled in to her corner looking like a lump of laundry, and Kirishima put his finger to his mouth motioning her to keep still. Once she nodded he pulled the hood down over her face completely concealing her.
"I'll be back I promise." Kirishima whispered as he closed the door and took of.
He headed twords the sound of fighting and explosions. When he got to the first floor the whole kitchen and living room was filled with thick black smoke. Kirishima's eyes started to water and breathing became hard as the smoke swirled around him. He realized that the smoke wasn't being caused by the explosion, no this was a quirk.
He squared his shoulders and hardened his body. He would fight whatever, or whoever, was using this smokescreen as a cover. He couldn't let them get to Eri, she was counting on him. He slowly made his way through the smoke relying on his ears rather than his eyes to find the culprit.
Suddenly he felt something strike his back. Thankfully his hardening protected him from any real damage but the impact sent him flying into the countertop. At least he knew where he was now, he thought to himself, and that ment he could map the area because he already knew the layout. He was banking on his enemy or enemies not having that information and possibly being blinded also.
He slowly made his way forward hoping to suprise whoever had struck him. But as Kirishima walked forward he felt something strike his leg knocking him off balance. Kirishima hit the floor hard and rolled to narrowly avoid being struck in the chest.
"Well, this is a suprise, I didnt think you'd be able to get around so easily in my smoke." The voice sounded distorted like it was mechanical.
A mask, Kirishima thought, that had to be wearing a mask. Kirishima threw his arms up to block another swing only to get knocked into the wall. Whoever this was they where stronger than he'd expected.
Kirishima found the window next to him and hurled himself through it. Once outside he could see clearly what was happening. Thick black smoke flew high in the air from the entrance to the school from the commotion he heard thats where everyone was mainly at. Damn, that ment he had to stay here and protect Eri by himself.
Kirishima whirled around at the sound of footsteps. His opponent no longer concealed by the smoke. Kirishima was taken aback by the boy standing in front of him. He looked the same age as Kirishima but had wild crazy eyes.
"I think I'll take you with us you'll make a great plaything with that quirk of yours, it means you wont die to quickly." The kid charged him again.
"Now that your smoke trick is useless how do you plan on catching me?" Kirishima taunted trying to keep his attention focused so maybe they'd forget about Eri.
"Who said that the smoke was my trick?" The kid smiled wickedly.
Kirishima watched in horror as another female walked out of the smoke as she held up her hands the thick cloud dispersed. The boy smiled again as he raised his hands up Kirishima felt the air being sucked out of his lungs.
"My quirk is that I can control the air around me." He laughed, "That sensation your feeling now is me depriving your body of precious oxygen, you'll pass out soon and be helpless."
Kirishima couldn't help it as his body screamed at him for air his hardening released and he hit the ground on his hands and knees. His sight blurred and black whisps filled his peripheral vision. He wanted to scream, to call out but nothing happened.
"Hurry grab him we're done here." The boy shouted.
Kirishima heard footsteps running twords them as his body finally gave out he felt the bracelet turn loose from his wrist. As they lifted him up he saw one last glimpse of the blonde boy he'd been missing all this time. They had him, but at least Bakugou and Eri where safe.
