Bella found herself drawing closer to Leon. It was as if she was compelled to do so. She had to thank him for what he did for her father. Leon was slouching in his armchair. When he heard her soft footsteps, he removed pipe from his lips, he spoke. "Isn't there anywhere in my Chateau I can be at peace without having you show up?" He asked her, resuming his smoking. He wasn't in the mood to deal with Bella this instant.

Bella curtsied, "I'm sorry, my Lord." Bella whispered, persisting in telling the man what she needed. She would not be stopped. "I only wanted to thank you." She said, her eyes watching his relaxed form. Leon inclined his head as he smoked, listening. "I don't recall doing anything for you," Leon inhaled a deep breath. "That women usually thank me for." Leon exposed to her once he ejected the object from his mouth once more, unable to suppress a chuckle. He changed his mind when he listened to her serene, silk voice.

Bella continued, not caring for his vulgarity, she tried once more. "The colonial ministry commission for my father." She affirmed, lightly to him. Leon moved his head insignificantly. "I don't know what you're referring to." Leon explained to her, merely gripping his pipe.

Bella cast her eyes to the side of her, then as she spoke she lowered them. "The silver compass." Leon noticed she said everything, slowly and softly. He grinned. He inclined his head more and arched his shoulder slightly as he swirled around while still in his seat. His eyes locating her at once, willing himself to examine Bella at this moment in time. He glanced away from her just as quickly. He angled his head and gave a sly smile. "You weren't supposed to find that." He informed her softly as he placed his pipe on the coffee table. "I didn't want you to think," Leon declared, as he lifted the small bottle, pouring himself a glass of the special medicine Armand prepared for him. "That I did it to please you." He finished telling her, setting the glass bottle back down on the table.

Bella searched his eyes and countenance, looking for any sign he was being deceitful or more correctly how much he was being honest with her. "Then why?" She inquired softly, witnessing him lift the small glass to his lips and how quickly he finished the contains in one sip. Leon replaced the glass on the table and stood up suddenly. He leaned a hand on the back of the armed chair as he approached Bella  gradually. "So you could be rid of me and I of you." Leon retorted, staring down right into Bella, his eyes boring into her warm honey coloured orbs.

Bella raised her head, her eyes locked onto Leon's. When Leon brushed a hand over her cheek, she dropped her chin and lowered her eyes, blinking. She definitely was not used to having any man touch her in such a way. She had her eyes closed. Maybe if she wished hard enough he would stop in with this. Couldn't he see all he did was making her feel uncomfortable? "Bella," He said huskily,  Bella willed  herself to open her orbs. "I would know peace if you were mine." Leon revealed to her tenderly.

Bella, sincerely, could not tell if he was being genuine or if mystifying her was a game to him. She was inclined to believe it was his new amusement.

He adverted looking at Bella briefly, shaking his head, wanting to complete his lecture. "But it won't happen." He confessed to her, Bella viewed the bitter grin which spread along his features. "And I should never be worthy of you." He proclaimed when Bella stared into his eyes.

With such beautiful words spoken and the compassion he had bestowed upon her father, Bella wanted to embrace him. But she was hesitant. Perhaps he would remember who he was and the title he was born into. "I await the day you leave here. It won't bring me peace either. But at least," Bella scanned Leon. It seemed she was a burden to him. Could it be her presence was causing him a sort of anguish? "It'll help me forget." He disclosed to her. "Isn't that want you want?" He demanded surrounded her, moving towards the window, his hand making a gesture. "To travel wherever the wind fills you're sails?"

Bella turned about, studying Leon while he fixed his gaze, looking out of his bedroom window. When he glanced at her, he used the last three words which were certain to catch her attention. "To be free." He stated to her, his eyes fiercely locking to hers instantly.

Bella couldn't contain her question any longer. "Who are you exactly?" She asked him, examining his character. Leon couldn't stop himself from staring or more correctly he couldn't remove his eyes from her figure. He had to admit she was a goddess, not that he would ever tell her that. Besides, this was his game which would lead him winning the bet Helene agreed on. "You terrorize you're subjects, stave the peasants," Bella blinked her eyes, carrying on, "And of course we can't forget you take advantage of those in debt to you."

By the list she formed, Leon knew he would have to work in changing Bella's mind about him somewhat, not entirely. Leon straightened his back, averting to look at her.  Bella continued, "And now this act of," Bella declared to him, shrugging her shoulders while searching for the word. "Kindness." She said to him softly, she persevered, her eyes never leaving him.

Leon glanced down, slouching his back slightly. "I don't understand." She informed him gently. Leon went to her, when he was next to her he muttered, "What a pity!"

To a young woman, there was nothing more romantic then a misguided man becoming a great one when they found the girl they longed for. Maybe he could play that type of role. Did he have it in himself to act the part? Bella was indeed a stunning young woman, he would never deny that fact. More than half the time, he couldn't stop staring at the captivating girl before him.

As he went around her, Bella twirled to glance at his back, she noticed his larger frame. Was there a way to truly thank him? She recalled when his Uncle Armand had shown her the one place that Leon had loved in the Chateau! The Conservatory! That was it! "I think I know how I can repay you for what you have done." She disclosed to him.

Leon brought his head up and cast his eyes over his shoulder, he sent her a smoldering gaze. Leon was curious of what she had in mind. Certainly he knew what he would have wanted from her. With a pure girl like her, she would leave him with another sting along his cheek if he dared to tell her. How many times had he seen her spirit? He had to admit he liked the fact that she wouldn't back down from him even if she was afraid of him. No her defiance challenged him and he did long for her company, the conversations they would have.

So Instead, he decided to act the part and show her he could be respectful as the next man. "I look forward to what you have in store for me, Bella." He informed her, giving her a slight smirk.

Bella smiled and left his room.
