From the moment Florian went to him, telling him Bella would be having the child within the next few hours on this autumn night. Leon knew his place was by his wife. He knew the midwife was in the Chateau but even with that knowledge, he grew afraid for her well being by the second. He practically flew to each room, making his way to their chamber. This young woman was his life. He was terrified what laid beyond the door. Death could easily come for her through such circumstances as these. With great haste he turned the knob. When he was in the room, approached her. He saw Bella was resting. When she heard Leon, she tried to host herself up on the bed. "My love." He called to her gently, staring down at Bella.
He could see the pain, clearly written on her pale face. He watched as she tried to ignore the pain she was feeling. Seeing her as she was now reminded him of the night Bella had caught Scarlett Fever. He was afraid for her that night. So much so he asked the Almighty Lord for help! He placed his hands on her arms, stopping her. He lowered himself onto the bed beside her, his hands folding over one of her hands.
"Leon." She replied, whispering as she raised a hand, stoking his face with the lightest of touches. She gave him a weak smile. Her Prince in white and blue. "Will you do something for me?" She asked him softly. Leon couldn't believe she had to ask such a thing. "Anything, Bella." He retorted. "Have I ever said no to you?" He inquired with a sly smile. "In return, I need you to do something for me." He informed her.
Leon examined Bella carefully. He could see she had doubt in her brown orbs. He spoke, "You can not give up, Bella."
Bella inhaled a breath. "In case I die giving-" She began to say, avoiding his gaze. Leon bored his eyes into hers. He was scared. For her. For the unborn child she was carrying. She had to have seen the pain in his eyes. "No Bella, you're not allowed that!" How could she get through to him? She knew she was the most important person, woman to him. She squeezed a hand and stared at him. "Leon, I need you to be aware." She announced to him. "I will make every attempt but there is a chance-"
Leon couldn't tear his eyes away from her. "What I need from you is the strength to deny death!" Bella tried once more, looking up at him, noticing the stern in his features. "But if the worst should happen, swear you will love the child." Bella watched him. There was no sign of anger radiating from his expression. Leon refused to think Bella would die, giving him this gift. Such a gift Juliet never contemplated giving him. A family! "Bella, don't you dare be defiant. You are mine, forever!" He reminded her tenderly. Taking a deep breath, could he resent the child should Bella die giving it life? Could he despise anything that belonged to Bella? He had to look in his heart. The answer was...
Leon lifted her hand, brushing his lips to it. "But yes, Bella. I will love the child! Nevertheless, my love, you won't be going anywhere." He back away from her. Bella gripped Leon's wrist with all the might she could muster. He glanced down, noticing the physical contact. It was at this moment in time, the midwife rapped on the door. Leon kept his eyes on Bella. "Enter." He stated.
The midwife rolled a table which contained boiling hot water, next to it was a white towel. "Leon, Have Eveline and father arrived yet?" She questioned him, trying her best to be brave. Leon ran his fingers through her hair. "You're father is on a mission, Bella. Within the next hour Eveline will arrive."
Bella closed her eyes, trying her best to delay the pain. Leon observed her forehead was damp. Once the midwife left the room, he went over to the hot bowl of water and soaked the towel. As he rung the access fluid, he ran it all along her forehead and face. "Rest for a while, my love." He requested.
When the midwife returned, Leon was forced to remove himself from the room on the orders of the midwife. A woman in her mid thirties with fair skin, green eyes and blonde hair. He leaned up against the door, nervous. He didn't hear any screaming.
