As Max strutted out to the pool, eyes scanning for the cute girl he had seen earlier, his boyish smile dropped as he stopped in his place. What he saw was the very girl he was looking for, cuddled up next to a large, older-looking, muscular guy by the side of the pool.
"Oh ho ho! That's awkward," Alex said as she caught up to her brother. However, when she saw the shattered look in the boy's eyes, she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry Maxie. It wouldn't hurt to still go and talk to her."
With one last squeeze of his shoulder, Alex walked away from her brother, leaving him standing alone while the rest of his family found a spot to sit. Max then began a sad shuffle towards the rest of the Russo's, his eyes locked on the ground; and they would have stayed there if he didn't hear a scream come from across the pool. His head whipped around, brown eyes scanning for trouble. However, all he saw was the girl he had set his hopes on being picked up and tossed into the pool by the guy she was with. Max let out a sigh.
"You'll get 'em next time big guy," Max mumbled to himself.
Just as he was about to look away at the ground again, Max saw something rather peculiar: as the tall young man stood and laughed hysterically, a large wave of water washed over him. Max's eyes then darted to the girl in the water, her hand still faintly glowing blue as she laughed at pointed at the guy. The boy's eyes grew wide right before he ran over towards his family.
"Justin! Alex!" Max whisper-yelled at his older siblings followed by a hand motion to come toward him.
"What Max?" Alex groaned, her voice matching her brother's as she spoke.
"That girl from earlier is a wizard. I just saw her magic a wave onto the guy she's with," the boy exclaimed, motioning towards the pair across the pool.
"Max, I really doubt that," Justin said, folding his arms across his chest as he rolled his eyes slightly. "She probably just splashed him."
"No, dude, her hand was glowing," the younger boy stated. "Normal people's hands don't usually glow."
"Max, I highly doubt-" Justin started, only to be pushed aside by his sister and interrupted.
"You know what Max? I believe you," Alex began, a devious smile on her lips as she glanced across the pool. "Why don't you go ask her about it!"
Alex then promptly pushed her little brother away on a path towards the girl in question, giving him a fake encouraging smile as she waved him off.
"Yeah, I'll do that!" Max responded after he tripped on his own feet and quickly caught himself, giving his siblings a thumbs up as he walked away.

"Mio fratello~" Romy sang as she attempted to undo her damp hair from its bun. "Would you be a doll and go get me another smoothie, per favore?"
Shawn only rolled his eyes, grabbing his sister's empty cup and made his way towards the drink stand a little ways away, leaving Romy alone handling her tangled hair.
"Hi. Hello," an unknown voice suddenly spoke out, catching Romy off-guard causing her to jump slightly as she let out a small yelp. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you or anything, haha."
As Romy turned to face the person the voice belonged to, her eyes widened. There, in front of her, was an incredibly cute boy with an awkward smile plastered to his face.
"Hi," she responded with a smile, her hands still tangled in her wavy mass of soggy, dark brown hair as her eyes connected with the boy before her.
"Okay, so, I'm just gonna cut right to it and ask: are you a wizard? Because I definitely just saw you use a wave spell a few minutes ago," the boy said abruptly.
