Emma’s POV

I was really nervous . Chris invited a friend to dinner . Not just any friend . Demi Fricking Lovato! She was guest-starring on Glee and they got along and I really didn’t like the way he talked about her, maybe I’m just imagining things but I could swear that every time he talked about her , his eyes sparkled . Maybe I’m just being a jealous drama queen ! But how can I not ? Chris could have any girl in the world , he can have world-wide superstars , so why should he settle for me ?

“What should I make for tonight ?” I asked entering Chris’s bedroom . He was sprawled on his bed reading the Great Gatsby .

“  He smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly. It was one of those rare smiles with a quality of eternal reassurance in it, that you may come across four or five times in life. It faced--or seemed to face--the whole eternal world for an instant, and then concentrated on you with an irresistible prejudice in your favor. It understood you just as far as you wanted to be understood, believed in you as you would like to believe in yourself, and assured you that it had precisely the impression of you that, at your best, you hoped to convey.” He read out loud , smiling down at the page .

“It seems like a great book .”

“it is , and believe it or not , Jeff inspired me to read it .”

“ I don’t know why you’d think id find that hard to believe , Jeff reads a lot .”

“Yea but this isn’t really his favorite genre . and he didn’t read it , he was just interested in a quote.”

“which quote ?”

“I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.” He answered after flipping through some pages .

“Why would Jeff be interested in that ?”

“I don’t know. And you don’t have to make anything . We’re going out for Dinner .”

“oh .”

“Is something wrong ?” he asked setting aside his book .

“It’s just , that , well- what’s Demi like ?”

“She’s nice and funny and smart “

“do you think she’s pretty ?”

“Well yea , she’s Demi Lovato , she’s gorgeous .”

“oh” my face probably fell .

“you’re jealous aren’t you ?” he asked looking serious .

“well not really .”

“come here “

 He pulled me to his lap and I explained what was going through my mind , choking back on some tears .

“is this what you think our relationship is ? me settling for you ? “ He asked irritated “ Emma you should know one important thing about me , I never settle . to me , it’s the absolute best or absolutely nothing.”

I cracked in tears and let him hug me tightly .
