Chapter 2 - Sophie

A/n: I just wanted to quickly thank everyone who's read this, since that means you enjoyed Chapter 1 and want to continue. Now, enjoy Chapter 2! (This chapter takes place at  the same time as Chapter 1)

PoV: Sophie

"Come on, Foster!" Keefe whined as I packed my things.

" Keefe, I already said you're not going. "

"Why not? I'll be careful! "

"You're never careful, Keefe," I pointed out.

Keefe out a hand on his heart in mock hurt, " Wow, Foster! I didn't know you could hurt people like that! How cruel! "

I rolled my eyes, "You know that's not going to get me to take you to the Forbidden Cities with me, right?"

" Seriously though, Foster. Why not? "

"Because it might not be safe, Keefe!"

" And yet you're letting Fitzypo go. " he acknowledged.

"None of you would be going with me if I were in charge! Not even Fitz!" I sighed, " I keep getting you guys into more and more trouble. I don't want you to get hurt again. "

"Hey, Foster, I have an idea. First, how about you stop feeling all that guilt from all those past times one of us has gotten hurt because WE decided to join you, and let's remember how many times you've almost died. It's not fair that you just keep telling us not to come. "

 "Ugh, fine." I grumbled, "But if you die, it's not my fault."

"Yes!" Keefe exclaimed, " Team Foster-Keefe for the win!"

"Sophie!" I heard my adoptive mom Edaline call, " Fitz is waiting for you outside! "

"Okay mom!" I called back before closing my bag and finally looking Keefe in the eye, "Well, you'd better get packing if you want to come along. " Keefe nodded and pulled out a light leaping crystal. "And make sure you take human clothes!" I added as he stepped into its beam.

I sighed again. *At least it won't be just me and Fitz* I thought, *At least Keefe will be there to make it less awkward.*

(FLASHBACK AND LEGACY SPOILERS AHEAD!!)

Fitz and I had been dating for a little while, but we broke up after we found out I was unmatchable. It was fine by me, since he'd been treating me kinda like a jerk leading up to that, and I've been happy to say I'm not with him anymore, and so is Biana.

(SPOILERS ENDED (for the most part))

Biana liked that I was with her brother because I made him "happy" apparently, but when she realized I wasn't happy with him, she supported me fully when we broke up. Dex was happy too, mostly because it made Fitz look bad.

As I walked down the stairs to meet up with Fitz, I ran into Grady, my adoptive father. He only saw me for a second before giving me a rib-crushing hug. "Stay safe, would you kiddo?" He whispered.

" Don't worry, dad. " I replied as I pulled away, " I'll be as careful as I can. Besides, I used to live in the Forbidden Cities, I know how they work. "

He gave me a pat on the shoulder before continuing past me and heading into his office. I kept walking down the stairs until I reached out kitchen, where I grabbed a few pieces of mallowmelt from a plate on the counter and put all but one in the bag. I popped the last one into my mouth before I hugged Examine and went out the door. 

As I walked outside, I was met with the soft of not only Fitz, but Dex, Linh, and Tam as well, all wearing human clothes. Before I could ask what was going on, Linh came up to me and gave me a hug.
