Terriel booted up his computer, watching the screen flicker on and illuminate his face in the darkness. It was well past midnight, and sure, he was exhausted, but he had just gotten a really popular horror game and wanted to play it as soon as possible. Logging in, he grabbed his headphones and stuck them on his head, making sure the volume wasn’t so loud that it would make his eardrums bleed.

When Steam finally loaded, he smiled as the words, “Newly purchased game in inventory.” Appeared in his inbox. He clicked the pop-up, and it took him to the game.

Five Nights At Freddy’s, read the title, and Terriel’s fingers began to twitch with excitement. He had kept himself away from any spoilers, unlike his friends across the hall, who had watched multiple playthroughs already. They said it was awesome, so he immediately decided to buy the game. It was pretty cheap too, considering that it was said to be a really good game. He clicked install, and after a minute or two, the icon for the game appeared on his desktop. Smiling, he clicked it and waited for the game to boot up.

Suddenly, the screen flickered. From what he had heard about the game, he was sure this wasn’t supposed to happen. Was it a virus or something? Random letters and symbols started to flash on the screen, definitely not normal.

The screen suddenly shut off, and Terriel was plunged into darkness.
