By the eighth day, Kyle thought he was going to die of starvation, and he didn't care much anyway. He had had a few coconuts and the little fruit he could find deep in the jungle, but it wasn't nearly as plentiful as the beach. During the hot afternoon, he was laying dazed on the floor of his cave, staring at the ceiling thinking about how he would soon see his parents again. That was when a shadow moved across the cave entrance. He shielded his eyes against the sunlight, and saw who he dreaded most coming straight towards him, faster now that she saw his figure on the ground. Kyle muttered,"why?" But before he could get an answer, he blacked out.
Kyle woke up in a familiar place, where he had awoken all those days and nights before. He didn't seem to be any older than when he had arrived, affirming his suspicions of the island being magical. Emma noticed as soon as his eyes opened, and rushed to his side with tears in her eyes. Kyle asked the same question he had back in the cave. "Why?" Emma wiped her tears and giggled a little bit. "Because I love you, dummy." Kyle's eyes opened wide, and Emma grabbed his face and brought him into a kiss. Kyle tried to kiss her back, but it was pretty difficult since her top lip was between his upper lip and nose, and her bottom lip was at the top of his chin. He even felt her giant tongue working its way past his lips to connect with his. They stayed like that for a while, Kyle relishing in the sweet smell of her breath and the taste of fruit in her mouth. Emma slowly stroked the side of his face before finally pulling away and yanking Kyle out of bed. She laughed when she saw his bewilderment, and grabbed his hand and led him outside. They walked the beach like they had so many times prior, but this time they exchanged no words. The pair just held hands and Kyle leaned on her arm.
