I WATCHED AS LOLA NOVAK left my trailer, feeling incredibly fluttery inside. I closed the door, doing a dance and cheering to myself. "Yes!!!"
Finally, I did it. That went really well, and I'm sure she at least can stand me now. I'm pretty sure we're friends. We're definitely friends.
I definitely thought talking to her would be ten times more awkward for me, considering the fact that I'd been obsessed with the woman for an entire year, but it was so natural. It was so easy to talk to her, and I just knew that we were going to have so much fun together. I already knew she was a fun and exciting person.
I couldn't help it—by heart was racing so fast you'd think I had just trekked through the Himalayas. And my stomach was filled with the flutteriest out of the fluttery butterflies to the point where I seriously felt like I was gonna throw up. It was that bad.
But it was go time. I'd gotten the scariest and most nerve-wrecking part out of the way, and the next thing was getting closer to her.
I usually let things go with the flow, and never tried too hard to connect with someone—but I really, really, wanted Lola. To be my friend. To be mine—I wasn't sure yet. But all I knew was that I was going to definitely make it happen.

THAT NIGHT WHEN I GOT HOME, I took out my phone and did the first thing I had made note of earlier in the day.
Matthew was super fun, and not what I had expected at all. I felt like we kinda kicked it off and connected the moment we got all the weirdness out of the way. I felt like we would become really good friends, by how easy it was for us to talk and joke around.
And plus, he was incredibly handsome.
