I STOPPED PRACTICING MY
lines for a moment, glancing over at Lola who was peacefully sleeping on my couch. My heart felt warm as I gazed at her longingly; she was so pretty. Unfairly pretty.
Even when she was sleeping, her face glowed brightly, her thin face void of a single double-chin. Lola's skin was incredibly smooth, her eyelashes long and thick with mascara. I loved her plump and pink lips, wondering how good it'd feel to kiss her.
Things were going so well between us, and I was beginning to be hopeful of something more in the future. The way she flirted with me hinted that she saw me more than a friend, but sometimes Lola did certain things that made me think she wasn't as romantically attracted to me as I thought.
I checked the time. It was a couple of minutes before three, so I stood up from my chair and made my way over to her on the couch. I let myself stare at her peaceful state for a few seconds, admiring her lengthy curls before reaching down and tapping her on the cheek softly.
Apparently she was a heavy sleeper, because the woman didn't even budge. I grabbed her shoulder, shaking her lightly.
"Lola," I muttered, seeing her begin to stir. I whine escaped the woman's lips along with a groan as she opened her eyes, probably seeing my blushing madly.
"Rise and shine." I told her, smiling at her confused and dazed state.
"Already?" She asked in a complaining manner, sighing heavily.
"You're such a funny-looking sleeper." I told her, smirking.
"Oh shut up." Lola snapped, grabbing my hand lazily and playing with my fingers. I watched her with a small smile, feeling warm inside.
"Come on, you're gonna be late to whatever you need to do." I said.
"I still have thirty minutes." She yawned, letting go of my hand and sitting upwards. I snorted at her messier than usual hair, seeing how it stuck up and out everywhere.
"You look absolutely ridiculous." I said, brushing it out with my fingers. That was something I'd been wanting to do for a while, so i wasn't going to pass up the opportunity.
"Make fun of my looks one more time, will you?" Lola rolled her eyes, and I laughed, sitting down next to her on the couch.
"Be quiet. You know you're beautiful." I muttered.
"No, I don't." She said haughtily, smirking at me.
"Stop fishing for my compliments." I said, pushing her face softly.
"Matthew," Lola cooed, fluttering her lengthy eyelashes at me with an innocent smile that made me feel almost nauseous. "I only want your compliments." She whispered to me.
I flushed, rolling my eyes and looking away from her. "I'm not feeding your ego."
"I think you're hot, Matthew."
I glanced over at her, thinking she was being genuine, but her face displayed a playful smirk instead. I rolled my eyes. "Oh stop it." I muttered, reaching over and pinching her nose.
