viii. pretty boy's got a crush
MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER

[🪐]

        I BOLTED TO THE STUDIO,
my heart still pounding heavily in my chest. I felt like a high schooler all over again, with how Lola makes my emotions go haywire. The feeling in my stomach when she's close is completely unexplainable, and probably one of the best and scariest sensations ever. She was so goddamn perfect, I couldn't believe it.

I quickly put on my outfit for the shooting, jogging to the office where we shot at, panting heavily as I rushed to where the others were.

Shemar immediately looked up at me, his eyebrow raising along with a smirk plastered on his lips. "Got a little carried away, huh?"

I flushed, shaking my head violently. "No. It was traffic." I explained quickly, "by the way, Lola ate all your shrimp."

His jaw dropped, "you've got to be kidding me!"

I shrugged, looking at the others, who were staring at me suspiciously.

"You and Lola are....?" Kirsten started, looking at me with confusion.

"Friends." I told her flatly. "Just friends. For now." I said.

"Key words: for now." Joe snorted.

I blushed, shrugging. "I think things are going well. And it's only been two days." I said, already feeling excited talking about it.

"Oh Matthew," AJ cooed, patting my shoulder, "you've got the biggest crush."

"What? No I don't—" I protested, seeing them all roll their eyes.

"Pretty boy's got a cruuush." Shemar teased, pinching my cheek hard. "You should see how you look at her, kid. You gotta tone it down a bit."

I flushed, suddenly self-conscious. "I-I don't look at her weirdly. I look at her like I look at you all." I deadpanned.

"I didn't know you thought I was pretty, Matthew!" Thomas exclaimed, laughing at me.

I rolled my eyes, shoving him away. "Okay, fine. But I'm not being obvious to her, right?" I asked, looking at Shemar. "Right?"

He smirked, shrugging, "depends if she's oblivious or not."

"She's obviously not!" I protested, burying his face in my hands. "Oh god, what if she knows how obsessed I am? What if she's playing me???"

The others stayed quiet, merely looking away from me.

"Guys!!!" I exclaimed exasperatedly, "help me!"

"Okay, okay." Paget said, stifling a laugh. "Lola isn't the type to just play someone she doesn't like."

"And you have been pretty obvious, but then again you flirt with about every female on the cast and crew, so I doubt she's thinking anything of it." Shemar explained, and I gulped, nodding.

"Just go with the flow, Matthew. Don't rush anything, just let romance do it's thing." Thomas suggested, and I rolled my eyes, sighing heavily.

"I'm too impatient for that." I said.

"Well you're gonna have to be, because Lola has explicitly told me that she's never dating a celebrity ever again." Kirsten explained, and my eyes widened.

"What????" I asked, feeling dread fill me.

"You just have to give her time, Matthew." AJ said. "Do you know how much hate she got just from that one photo being released of her and Evan holding hands?"
