"We leave something
of ourselves behind
when we leave a place,
we stay there,
even though we go away.
And there are things in us
that we can find again
only by going back there.
"
Pascal Mercier

Elle rubs at her eyes, looking around in confusion.
"How did I..."

Trailing off as she sits up and notices she still adorns the orange and fuchsia dress, she sighs.

Elle realises she must have fallen asleep in the truck on the way home, and her hazel-brown eyes glance around her bedroom, focusing on the pile sitting on her desk.

The gift bag from the reservation is surrounded by the presents she received the previous night, her blue camera placed on top of the dandelion scrapbook.

On her bedside table, Elle finds a scrawled note that she can't help smiling at.

Ellie
Bells told me you fell and dislocated your shoulder at the Cullens, and that Carlisle had dealt with it.
I decided since you fell asleep on the drive home, you could probably do with a good sleep-in.
I excused you from school, citing your shoulder as making it difficult for you to write and being incredibly sore.
(Don't know if that's true, but they'll believe the Chief.)
Sorry if you woke up uncomfortable, but I didn't have the heart to wake you up, so I brought you up to your room and tucked you in.
I also put your presents and your camera on the desk with the bag from the reservation.
Be easy on your shoulder today.
Love, Dad.

Snorting, Elle swings her feet over the edge of her bed.

Bare feet meet the cold floor, and the teen is quick to shimmy out of her dress and into her oversized beige sweater and a pair of shorts.

After pulling on a pair of avocado ankle socks, Elle wanders down the stairs.

Dishing herself a bowl of yoghurt and fruit, the youngest Swan disappears back up the stairs.
Clearing her desk of presents, having to remind herself to use her left arm, Elle pulls her laptop out and plugs her camera into it.

Her slightly swollen right shoulder commandeers the mousepad of her laptop, selecting photos to print as she uses her left hand to eat.

When the printer, which lives in Bella's room, is available to connect to the laptop's Bluetooth, Elle sighs, "Dammit Bells; we've talked about turning things you aren't using off."

Unbeknownst to the girl, Edward stands in her twin's room, looking at the folded picture of him and Bella in shame, with regret.
Careful to not make too much noise, the vampire takes the pictures from the night before from Bella's scrapbook.

As pictures start printing, obviously Elle's, Edward spares them a glance.

And although he's trying to erase his existence from Bella's life, he finds he can't do it to Elle.
Whether it's because she's close with everyone in his family, or because his family would probably kill him if he were to do it, Edward is unsure.

But, he leaves the pictures Elle prints, disappearing out the window right before she walks into her sister's room.

Humming along to music, the girl takes her photos, turning the printer off before returning to her room.

"Ahh, shit," Elle exclaims as she walks into her room, now crowded with three vampires, "I could've dropped my pictures!"

Rosalie smiles sadly at the girl, "Sorry, Elle. We just wanted to say goodbye."

"You're leaving town?" the Swan girl asks, glancing between the blonde and the two brunet vampires slightly behind her, "Is it because of last night?"
