"Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character.

"Hello?"

Elle's hushed voice is rough with sleep as she answers her ringing phone—she had picked it up quickly and answered without checking caller ID hoping to not wake Jacob.

"Hey—I'm sorry, Elle. Did I wake you?"

"Oh, hi Rosie," the Swan girl greets softly, shifting to sit up, "Yeah, you did, but it's okay. Could you give me a minute?"

"Of course," the blonde responds, waiting patiently as she hears her friend moving on the other side of the phone.
Rosalie listens as Elle opens and closes two doors until coming to a stop outside, a light breeze registering through the phone's microphone.

"Alrighty, I'm back," Elle yawns, "I didn't want to wake Jake or Billy."

"Should I be worried about your sleepover with a boy?" Rosalie asks jokingly, her teasing tone obvious to the brunette.

"Only if you think I'd go after someone I think of as a brother," Elle retorts with a small laugh.

Rosalie's lips quirk up into a smirk as she remarks, "To how everyone in Forks views our family, that would make you the perfect Cullen."

A snort from the Swan girl makes Rosalie laugh.
"Well," Elle chuckles, "You aren't wrong."

Elle can hear the murmuring of another voice on the other side of the call, and can only assume Emmett is there too.

"Okay, okay," the Swan hears Rosalie giggle before her voice is clear again, "The main reason for the call was to thank you for the gift."

A grin breaks out on Elle's face, "Ah, so it has arrived."

It—also known as Elle's wedding gift for them—is a framed photograph of the couple Elle took at the birthday party that was thrown for her and Bella.
Emmett is looking down at Rosalie with an adoring smile while she smiles at the camera.

Of course, the girl couldn't help the note she sent with it.

Couples who slay together, stay together.

"And we love it," Rosalie states earnestly.
Emmett adds loudly in the background, "You are an absolute legend."
Elle giggles at Emmett's repeat of her words about his birthday present for her.

"I do hope you know that since you slay in more than one way together, you have ensured you will stay together longer," the Swan girl cites in a false matter-of-fact voice.

"How does forever sound?"

The brunette barely hears Emmett's question and grins toothily as she fake-gags into the phone, "Aw, gross man. That was too sweet for me. Hell, I think that might have brought an episode on."

Emmett's boisterous laughter sends Elle into a fit of giggles while Rosalie gasps needlessly for air.

"There you are."

Jacob's sleepy voice surprises Elle, and she whirls around to face the boy, taking in his long black knotted hair and bleary tired eyes.

"I'm so sorry if I woke you, Jakey," the girl immediately apologises, Rosalie and Emmett's ears peaking as they try to stifle the giddiness the call and being newly-married has brought on.
"Do you need to go?" Rosalie asks her friend.

Elle nods, gesturing for Jacob to wait a minute, "Yeah, I'm sorry. But we'll talk soon, yeah Rosie? Em?"

"Of course," Emmett responds loudly for the both of them, "Chat soon Elle! Bye-bye!"
