Reeve wanted to create something to help him with his job. He was in charge of the Urban Development Program. He wanted to see the conditions of the cities without having to show up in person.
"(Y/N), could you help me with this project? I want to create a robot that can collect data so that I can improve more run down areas," Reeve asked.
"Sure. Do you have any design in mind?" you asked.
"I don't want it to disturb any young children, but I don't want it to be the center of attention, either," Reeve explained.
You started drawing plans, thinking about all of the different gears and bolts that you would need to get.
"I don't think that it should be human like. Maybe it could be some kind of animal that people find cute," you said.
"How about a cat. People won't touch a stray cat, and it can observe everyone in their daily lives," Reeve said.
Once you designed the cat, you worked on it during the day. After a week, the cat was put together.
"Oh, (Y/N), you're so talented. Thank you for building this. You've helped me so much. I don't deserve you," Reeve said.
"I have to add the circuits and wire it so that you can control it from Shin-Ra Headquarters. After that, he'll be done," you said.
"That's wonderful. Do you need any help? I have this week off," Reeve said.
"If you'd like to," you said.
He would hand you whatever you needed. With his help, you completed the bot in three days.
"It looks pretty realistic. You did an amazing job. I think that everyone is going to love him," Reeve said.
"Have you thought of a name to give him?" you asked.
"How about Cait," Reeve said.
"Should he have a last name?" you asked.
"Sith. Cait Sith. I think that he will do a great job," he said.
"Would you like more so that you can have observe more towns?" you questioned.
"I don't want you to go through all of that work for me," Reeve said. "If you taught me how to build one, we could build more faster."
"I like that idea. We'll have enough for you to cover each continent," you said.
You showed Reeve how every piece came together. He would copy your movements on his own model. When you finished the new models, Reeves looked a little distorted. You both laughed at how it turned out.
"His eyes are wonky," you chuckled.
"I don't have a very symetrical touch," Reeve laughed.
You worked on the new prototypes. Reeve got better the more he worked on them.
Your work was full of laughter. Once you finished, you placed numbers on all of the Cait Siths, so you could tell them apart.
You and Reeve kept one model of the cat so that you could test it for problems. It ran perfectly.
You released the many Cait Siths to roam around, gathering information wherever they went. You were happy that they worked successfully.
The Cait Sith that you kept became like your's and Reeve's child. You took care of him as if he were a real living being.
Creating Cait Sith brought you closer together.
