Rufus Shinra x Reader

"Good morning," a voice said.

You jumped back, trying to distance yourself from the voice.

"It's just me, you can relax," he said.

Your eyes adjusted to the light, allowing you to see Rufus Shinra sitting across from you. You crawled over next to him, leaning your head on his chest.

"Is something wrong?" Rufus asked.

You knit your eyebrows in confusion. You then realized that you had been breathing heavily.

"I... I'll be alright," you respond.

"You're safe now that you're out of there," Rufus said, stroking your hair.

"But, what if they find me?" you asked, tears starting to form in your eyes.

"Even if they do find you, I won't allow them to take you back," Rufus said.

You wrapped your arms around his torso, holding on to him tightly. You felt yourself starting to tremble.

"There's no need to be afraid. I will assign some of the Turks to watch you when I am away. I promise that Hojo won't get his hands on you," Rufus reassured you. "You're not the only one that they've done this to."

"Others have been tested on too?" you asked.

"I know that you haven't been out long, but you've probably heard of Sephiroth. When he was young, the same thing happened to him," Rufus explained.

"Isn't Sephiroth the SOLDIER that tried to destroy the planet?" you asked.

"Yes, he is. Also, the man that defeated Sephiroth was also an experiment," Rufus said.

"Cloud Strife?"

"Yes."

"Were they all famous people?" you asked.

Rufus explained how most of the SOLDIER 1st Class members were the top subjects.

"So, if they were all well known, does that mean that I'm also an important figure to the people?" you thought out loud.

"I'm not sure. We can see if we can find some answers for you," Rufus said.

You got out of bed and walked to where the Turks were.

"I need you to see if you can find a (Y/N) (L/N) I'm the system," Rufus said.

"Okay?" Reno said.

"We've come to the conclusion that she's probably an important figure," Rufus said. "All of the Jenova project subjects have been well know in some way. We're trying to help establish (Y/N)'s past."

"Alrighty, sir. I'll get on it right away," Reno said.

Rufus grabbed your hand and started walking out of the room.

"I found something, sir," Rude said.

You turned around. Rude was looking into the computer screen.

"(Y/N) (L/N). She's the daughter of Rocket Town's Mayor. She went missing sixteen years ago, when she was seven. They've assumed that she died after being gone for a few years," Rude summed up the information.

"We can go out there and try to find your father," Rufus said, nodding a quick thanks to the Turks.

You walked out of the building and towards the garage. When you found your car, Rufus kindly opened the passenger door for you. He closed the door once you were seated and sat in the driver's seat. He drove to Rocket Town. You found a place to park, jumping out and walking to the mayor's house. Rufus knocked on the door.

"Come in," the man greeted. "Um, Mr. President, sir, I, uh, is something wrong?"

"No, nothing is wrong. We just have a couple of questions," Rufus explained. "Is Mayor (L/N) here?"

"Yessir. He is in his office. I will be right back," the man said, running out of the room. He returned with and older man.

"I heard that you requested my presence, President Shinra," the mayor said.

"We have found some news on your missing daughter," Rufus started. "She's okay and has been waiting to see you."

"Really, she's alright? Thank God that she is okay. We thought that she died," he said.

"D-Dad?" you said, looking up at him.

"Oh my little sunshine isn't so little anymore. Now, I always told you to never run out into the woods. This would've never happened, but I'm so glad to know that you're safe," your dad said, engulfing you in a hug.

Rufus explained what all had taken place during your absence and how you had just recently escaped from that life.

"I don't think that we could keep her as safe here as what we would be if you took her with you," your dad said. "Would you please keep her safe?"

"I will gladly keep her from harm,"Rufus said.

You talked and ate dinner together, leaving when the night started to arrive. You carried a normal conversation with Rufus the whole way home.

"Thank you for taking me to see my father," you said.

"If there is anything that you want, I am more than willing to find a way to make you happy," Rufus said.
