“ stay safe flower", dad said, while giving her a hug. “you too dad. Oh look. It's mar and Alice I better go" I told him pulling away. “Ok then sweetheart" mum said. “have a good year" “bye, love you"I called before running over to her friends.
“ALLY, MAR!" I shouted excitedly
I heard Two shouts of “LILY!!” before I was tackled into a giant group hug. “ it's so good to see you guys you have to tell me ALL about your summers"I chattered. "yeah you too girl!” Marlene exclaimed.
Marlene was the Sirius black of our friend group. She was beautiful, sassy,a complete drama queen and I don't think has had a relationship that lasted over a week. “we have loads of catching up to do " stated Alice.
Alice was also very pretty, sweet,and an epic sense of humour. I had such great friends. I didn't need Severus, that goat.
“ Lily” Marlene whispered
“what” “James is staring at you again.” she sniggered. I rolled my eyes.“ohh here he comes. I bet you five galleons that he'll ask you out lily" said Alice smirking as the two sauntered off laughing.
I am so gonna lose.
“what do you want Potter” I asked harshly
“well hello to you too Lily. How was your summer ?" he said with, instead of his usual smirk a smile that seemed genuine. It took me by surprise that 1. He called me lily
2. That he can actually make decent small talk
And 3. HE DIDN'T ASK ME OUT!
Wow.
Anyway what did he ask? Oh he asked about my summer holiday,ha, some holiday that was. “meh, it was ok” I said feeling at bit glum at the memory of the torture called a "break".
“you sure? You look a bit sad thinking about it" he said,his face was actually full of concern! “ It's ok though, I'll make sure you have a great year. Now I must go, I'm afraid I have been summoned.” he smiled and walked off to were Remus lupin (usually the most bearable marauder) had been calling his name for the last minute.
What the heck just happened.
I just stood there trying to process what just took place. I had a conversation with James potter that didn't evolve him asking me out and/or me slapping him.James actually cared if I was happy? Nah, he just knew Remus was watching and didn't want him to make a big deal if he was rude. Yeah that's it.
“oh Alice dear” I called out grinning “I believe you owe me 5 galleons”
