Ciel didn't know what had happened. He had woken up today and Sebastian was already in a foul mood, stiffly pouring him tea and reciting what errands the servants were rushing before the wedding that afternoon. Ciel had been fretting about his butler all day (everyone else mistook it for wedding nerves, though he really couldn't care less about the ceremony) but couldn't find it in his heart to ask the demon what was going through his mind.
Maybe it was personal, family business (did demons have families?), or simply him having a bad day? Either way, the earl had spent the entire morning fretting over what he might have done to upset his butler. He told himself that the only reason he was keeping silent was because of the constant rush of people around him and he couldn't get a moment alone with Sebastian. When the servants and wedding staff weren't stuffing table cloths and flowers in his face, the Marquess was coddling him, and the second he got some fresh air, Edward was cornering him, yelling threats and making the earl promise to treat his sister well. Sebastian didn't do more than stand to the side, observing his shoes with a slight frown.
It was currently an hour until the ceremony would start and Ciel knew he'd mess something up if he didn't confront his butler before the wedding. Currently, he's allowing the butler to adjust his wedding outfit (a very extreme jacket with a train longer than Lizzy's gown, thanks to said blonde bribing the fashion designer with sweets) and fix his hair (for once he wasn't assaulted by his aunt to pin it back). As Sebastian pulled back and double checked his work, Ciel spoke. "Penny for your thoughts, Mr. Michaelis?"
The demon's head snapped upwards, "You look quite nice my lord. I am sure Lady Elizabeth will be pleased"
Ciel scoffed, adjusting the bow on his neck. "Yes, I am not worried about her. I could tip over the cake and she'd still consider this wedding a success. But you've been scarily quiet all throughout today, has Grell been pestering you again?"
Sebastian's face morphed into a look of disgust at the mention of the red-haired shinigami. "Thankfully the reapers have been quite busy and don't drop by to challenge me too often these days. Though I do believe Grell will find a way to drop by soon..." Sebastian tensed, his cold mask slipping on once more as all progress Ciel had made to calm to the strange tension between them melted away. "Even so, I won't let any supernatural or non-supernatural beings interrupt either your or Lady Elizabeth's day"
The earl frowned "I don't give a damn about that, I know you can keep me safe. Is that what's causing you to be so stiff today? That you'll have someone else in the manor to protect once Lizzy moves in?" The butler gaped at him "No? Well then who put a stick up your arse, you stupid demon? Why are you acting like I just kicked out all your cats for the third time?
The two were silent for quite a while after that, Sebastian out of shock that his master would speak to him in such a matter and Ciel because of how pissed he was. After a while, both men let out a sigh and started to explain, stopping and gesturing for the other to speak.
"I... I apologize for my inappropriate behavior I..." Ciel halted as an idea entered his mind. His head snapped up, narrowing onto Sebastian with an incredulous look, "...hold on a minute, were you jealous?!"
Sebastian flushed, stopping himself from letting out a flustered squeak by turning his head to the side shamefully.
"... Oh my god you are" Ciel felt a smirk spread on his lips and walked closer to the demon. Over the past few years Ciel had found that he could only smile with Sebastian. He used to think he could never truly smile or be happy, but both happened due to the demon being around him. While yes, sometimes it was a seductive smirk or sadistic cackle, it could also be a sweet laugh or soft smile. The first time it happened they had both stood there silently, wondering how someone who had gone through so much could still feel this kind of joy and smile like he had the whole world in his hands. Neither one of them brought it up after that.
Sebastian sputtered excuses, face getting redder by the second ('demons don't have feelings' my arse) and Ciel merely strutted closer to the man, grabbing his tie swiftly and pulling him down.
The earl had gotten taller over the years (no it was not due to Lady Sullivans magic, Finny) and now stood at a proud 5'8, just nearing half an inch taller than Lizzy. The butler had been scared that his young lord wouldn't grow at all, whether that be out of trauma or something else, and was relieved when he finally started to grow.
Ciel had learned to use his size to an advantage, earning the label of a small-angry-boy (from the servants, of course. No one else knew he had more than one emotion) and being able to hide or sneak in and out of places easily. Some people even found themselves cowering in fear as the small earl who was able to look down on them despite his size. His attitude had always flustered Sebastian, such as he was now, unable to break contact with the sapphire orb observing him in the moment.
"You have nothing to worry about, Sebastian" the man shivered at the hot breath tickling his cheek "I don't love Lizzy. I never have and I wish I did, I really do, but she's not mine, she's Ciel's and I could never do that to him. I still have to do what's best for her and our families, but that doesn't mean I should stop loving you" the pure honesty in the bluenette's words made Sebastian's heart jump, and he leaned closer towards his master, lips hovering over the earls mouth. A little step forward was all that was needed before the two were kissing, eyes shut and cheeks red. It was a soft kiss, innocent and sweet as sugar, and both master and servant wanted it to last forever...
"Young Master!" The door slammed open and with inhuman reflexes Sebastian and Ciel had completely changed position, with the butler adjusting his eye patch (a lacy thing Lizzy had bought for him, covered with small white flowers dyed blue at the tips. He didn't like it, as it reminded him too much of Doll's headress) and Ciel looking nervously at the wall. "The ceremony is starting soon, everyone's filed in and we need to get you up there right now!"
Mey-rin, Finny and Barry had taken the task of organizing the wedding (only the decorations and the schedule, he didn't trust them with much else) quite seriously, as they were very fond of their master and his fiancee. "I told you not to call me that anymore, Mey-Rin. I am not a child-". The maid didn't listen, simply grabbing Ciel by the wrist and tugging him towards the ceremony with Sebastian trailing behind them like a loyal dog.
As the ceremony went on, Ciel found himself meeting Sebastian's eyes more and more often. As he recited his vows he glanced at his butler with a loving gaze, as he said "I do" he couldn't help but smile at the butler when no one was looking, as he made his speech he didn't let his hands leave Sebastians (under the table, of course, he's not an idiot). His lips met the demons once more that night during a drunken bathroom break, but it wasn't nearly enough. That was fine though, they had time. Neither one of them were going anywhere, they could love each other for however long they liked. As long as no one figured them out.
A/N Haha... this is 1.4K+ words and I'm exhausted. The next chapters longer tho! See you next week and don't forget to comment, vote, add or follow! Constructive criticism is taken well
