It was ten in the morning and the pines family were in the living room watching TV. The only person who wasn't in the living was Ford. He was in the kitchen gathering up the kids' documents such has social security cards and birth certificates. The kids didn't know why he was gathering up their personal documents. They weren't at all concerned about it. Eventually Ford stepped in the living room carrying two folders stuffed with papers. He sat down on the couch. The kids were sitting on the floor not seeming to realize that Ford had walked in. "Hey kids, we need to talk to you," Stan said and then muted the TV. The kids scooted around to face their uncles. Knowing he got their attention he carried on. "Ford and I are going to be leaving soon to the city next to Gravity Falls. We have to go to a meeting with the children's service. The reason why this is important for you to know is that we are setting up for full custody of you two." Stan explained. At first the kids were silent. Most likely shocked by the news. After 30 seconds Dipper found his voice again. "What? Full custody? Why are you guys getting full custody over us? Our Parents might come back." Stan looked at Ford and then back at Dipper. "I know they might but it's been a year and the law is assuming that they are dead. They are shutting the missing person cases unless any new lead to their whereabouts comes up." Stan sad sadly. "Dead? They are just going to assume that they're dead? They don't even know if they are. How could they assume that when they found nothing to support that?" Dipper questioned. Both Stan and Ford looked at each other. This time Ford started speaking. "Actually they found one thing. Well more like somebody else found the thing. Somewhere in California in a isolated area, a biker found your father's wallet at the side of the road. His driver's license had the picture and the information scratched out but whoever did that failed to completely scratch out the name. The name could still be made out. His cards were still in there but there was no cash and all of us know your parents never go anywhere without cash. The police think they might have been robbed at some point." Ford explained. Mabel stood up at went to Ford in tears. Ford hugged her and tried to comfort her the best he could. "But why the cash? Most places in California don't accept cash. Why would they take the cash and not his credit card?" Dipper asked more angry then upset. "One word Dipper, Drugs. Cash is very valuable to a druggy. All dealers accept cash. Sometimes checks but rarely ever. In a state like California you can bet there are a lot drugs. That state is like drug central." Stan said noticing the anger in Dipper's eyes and voice. "I have never seen any drug deals going down in California." Dipper stated. Stan laughed lightly at that. "Of course you haven't. You lived in a safer area. However California is still a heavily populated place. When there's a high population it's more likely illegal activity is going to take place. A lot of stuff goes down in that state. Murder, human trafficking, you name any illegal thing and it's most likely happening somewhere in California What I am saying is that California is well known for drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if someone did rob your parents. An addict will do anything for drugs." Stan ranted. Dipper angerly turned away from Stan with his hands clenched into fists. "Just shut up grunkle Stan." Dipper hissed. "Excuse me! You better watch your mouth, boy! You don't tell me to shut up!" Stan scolded. Dipper still faced away from him. Trying his best to keep his tears in. He was determined to stay strong for his sister. He found it hard to breathe with out his breaths sounding broken. He let a few tears out. Holding in and sobs the best he can. Stan noticed Dipper trying to fight himself from crying. He hadn't took one breath. "Buddy, are you okay?" Stan asked softly. Dipper lightly shook his head. He wasn't upset because Stan yelled at him. He was upset because of the news of his parents. His anger had melted away and all that was left was sadness. "Come here Buddy. It's okay to cry. I know you're upset about your parents." Stan said in a calm voice. Dipper turned around and gone over to Stan and allowed his uncle to bring him into a hug. "Kids, everything will be okay. You may not have your parents but you have us. We will always be there for you. You will be here with us." Ford said. He felt Mabel clutch he sweater tighter. He looked down and seen that Mabel was starting to cry again. He gave her a kiss on her forehead. "Calm down sweetie. You will be alright." Eventually both kids calmed down. "We will be leaving in 30 minutes. You two will be home alone. Remember the rules. Don't go outside, keep are doors and windows shut and locked, do not let anyone in and if you hear a unknown sound go down to the lowest level of my lab. If you do have to go into my lab for safety, stay there till we get back. Understood?" Ford asked. "Yes grunkle Ford." Both Mabel and Dipper said. "Okay, now let Stan and I get ready for the meeting. I got both of your records collected in those two folders and we have to look well put together so CPS will think we are acceptable guardians. I want you two to do your chores while we're gone." Ford explained has went to his room. The kids both nodded. Within 20 minutes both Stan and Ford were ready to go they both gave a hug and a kiss to the forehead to the kids and walked out the door. Dipper locked the door. "I can't believe that the law is assuming our parents are dead. Sure they could've been robbed but they might still be okay." Mabel said as Dipper locked the door. "Well it's been a year. Each missing person's case has a expiration date. Once that date hits they close the case unless they get a lead that could point them to their whereabouts but I can see why the law assumes our parents are dead. Someone scratching out dad's driver's license could mean somebody was trying to cover tracks. The other explanation is that one of our parents did it because they didn't want to be found. He could have just took the cash because credit cards can be tracked and they would know who's it is." Dipper explained. "Dipper, you aren't assuming that our parents meant to go missing, are you?" Mabel asked with a gasp at the start of the sentence. "What? No, of course not. I am just saying that it's a possibility. Calm down. God! You can be such a drama queen at times." Dipper huffed in annoyance and rolled his eyes. "And you are the king of paranoia." Mabel shot back. "Ugh! Jesus fucking Christ! Do we really need to get into an argument right now?" Dipper complained. "Argument? Who said we were having an argument?" Mabel questioned with her hands on her hips. "Why are you standing like that. Developing some sass I see." Dipper huffed. "Pine Tree, I always had sass." Mabel said knowing Dipper hated being called that. "Mabel! How many goddamn times have I told you not to call me that. We don't need to have a Bill Cipher copy cat." Dipper said angerly. "I wouldn't call me a copy cat. Unless I can some how to go into people's mind, manipulate their dreams and possess people's bodies, I wouldn't call myself a copy cat." Mabel argued. "Ugh! Fine! Whatever! We need to get our chores done anyway." Dipper dismissed the conversation and stopped it from becoming a full fledged argument. Mabel shrugged her shoulder's and walked off. The kids finished their chores and were now sitting at the table in the former living room playing a board game. They were half way through it when they heard a weird growling noise. It was pretty loud and shook the house. "What in the hell was that?" Dipper asked. "I don't know. Thunder?" Mabel offered a explanation but Dipper disagreed. "It's completely sunny outside." Dipper said. "Yeah but doesn't mean there's not a storm rolling in." Mabel countered. "True. Let's go to our room and see if we can see the sky from there." Dipper said and they both jogged up the stairs into their room. Once they were in their room they headed to the window when they heard the growling noise again. "It's much louder now." Mabel said slightly panicked. Dipper climbed on top of the table and knocking stuff down in the process. He opened the window and heard Mabel gasp. "Dipper, we aren't supposed to open windows when we are home alone!" Dipper gave her a glare of annoyance and spoke "Mabel, it's a 14 foot drop from the window to the ground. Unless somebody has a ladder I don't think they are getting in." He went to look out the window when Mabel once again interrupted him. "I don't think it's a person our uncles are worried about. I think they don't want windows open because of creatures." Dipper shook his head at his sister. "Well our uncles won't know I opened our window. What they don't know won't kill them." Dipper replied dismissively and poked his head out the window. He heard Mabel sigh but ignored to study the sky. "No clouds in sight. Not even a white cloud is out there." Dipper said and closed the window and latched it shut. "Then it's not thunder." Mabel said absolutely puzzled. Dipper climbed to the floor when they suddenly both heard a deafening roar in the woods and was dangerously close to the shack. "Dipper, it's a creature. We need to go in grunkle Ford's lab!" Mabel said a bit loud and started to panic. Dipper shook his head as he followed his sister down the stairs. "Mabel, I am sure it's nothing too serious. It could be a tiny creature for all we know." Dipper assured. "We still need to go to Ford's lab." Mabel explained and headed to the vending machine. "I am going out there to investigate. I am sure it's nothing." Dipper brushed off his sister's fear. "Dipper, now it's not the time to act like a brave big brother. You investigating is pretty much a suicide mission. Don't go out there. You could get killed." Mabel complained typing in the code of the vending machine. The entrance slide open with a big puff of released pressure. "Calm down Mabes. You are being too worried. If I thought I was in danger I would go with you." Dipper said and went to the door. "Good luck Dipper. I hope you come back." Mabel responded sadly and entered the spinal stairs that leads to the elevator. The lab entrance closed. Dipper felt a bit guilty but he continued on with his plan and went out the door. It was a chilly October day and without a jacket Dipper was shivering. He listened for another sound and in 30 seconds the growl sounded. He went towards it and he didn't make it all that far from the shack when the same growl echoed through the trees. It was very loud and Dipper was positive he was close to the thing responsible for the noise. He walked a bit when he saw a big creature. It's back was turned. It looked a lot like a gremloblin but it had a few different features This creature was gray and hairless. It was still pretty wide. It appeared to be feasting on a carcass of a mountain lion. Dipper winced at the unimaginable smell and fought his urge to vomit. He began to back away slowly to go back to the shack but he ended up stepping on a stick that snapped under his foot. "Fuck!" Dipper yelled in his mind. The creature jerked up from the noise. It turned around and seemed angry about being interrupted from it's meal. The creature let out terrifying screech and threw it's self toward Dipper giving him three deep scratches across his chest ripping slashes into his orange shirt. His life flashing before his eyes he turned and ran with the creature screeching and rushing toward him. He quickly climbed up a tree and sat on a high up branch where the monster like thing wouldn't be able to get him. "I don't know if there is any god but if there is please let me make it out of here alive." Dipper prayed in whispers. The monster was now under him and appeared to not know Dipper was above it. The monster let out what sounded like some what of a whine and went back to it's meal. Dipper quietly climbed down, careful not to step on another branch. He ran back to the shack to see his uncles gave returned home. "Oh no! I'm so screwed." Dipper said out loud to himself. He cussed out himself all the way to the front door. He looked in the window. Ford was hugging Mabel and appeared to be scared himself and Stan sat on the couch with his head in his hands. "It would be mean to keep them waiting in their fearful state with thoughts if he would return home or not. He took a deep breath even though it stung from the scratches. He opened the door and entered the house both Ford and Stan immediately looked his way. "Dipper, You made us so worried why would you ev- WAIT, are you hurt!"Stan yelled out rushing towards Dipper. Stan carefully removed his damaged blood soaked shirt and as soon as he seen the scratches he felt like he was going to faint. "Mason Pines, why on earth would you leave the house when you knew there was a creature near by?!" Ford scolded. "Dipper looked down at the floor with his hands behind his back. Ford looked at him with more disappointment than anger. "Dipper, these scratches are very deep. I have no choice but to take you to the hospital. Ya better hope you don't need stitches." Stan
said sternly. "I'm sorry grunkle Stan. I am sorry grunkle Ford and I am sorry Mabel." Dipper apologized now feeling totally guilty for his action and making his family worried sick. "You better be. After the hospital, I am spanking you right in the parking lot even if people are watching. Some embarrassment will do ya some good." Stan said in a stern tone. Dipper was absolutely shocked. Did he hear Stan right? He has never gotten a full spanking in public. The most he got were warning smacks to his butt. He could only imagine how embarrassing it would be to have somebody watching him get his butt busted by his uncle. "Grunkle Stan. Not in public, please!" Dipper pleaded. Stan shook his head. "I'm sorry but it has to be done. A good old fashioned spanking in public will keep you in line." Stan stated. Dipper looked towards the ground. He held his breath for the longest time. He didn't want to even make any slight movements. He knew not breathing wasn't good but maybe he would pass out and escape this nightmare temporally. "Dipper, you need to breathe. Don't be shutting down on me." Stan said putting his hands gently on Dipper's upper arms. Eventually Dipper took a breath but only because the lack of oxygen was getting to be unbearable. "There we go. Keep breathing for me please." Stan's voice was in between stern and kind with that sentence. Dipper did continue to breathe just because he didn't want to anger his uncle further. "I am gonna have to get a towel to take care of the blood till we get to the hospital. So I am going to go get one and then we are leaving." Stan informed and walked of to the bathroom. Mabel still had a grip on Ford and Ford refused to even look at him. That did hurt his feelings a bit but maybe Ford couldn't look at him without blowing up on him. He knew that Ford would forgive him like he always did. Ford was never able to stay angry at his niece and nephew for very long. Stan came back with a old towel. One that was not worth keeping. They would throw it away after Dipper was done with it. "Keep this pressed against your chest. We need to decrease the blood flow the best we can. Now let's get to the hospital." Stan said in more of a demanding tone. The ride to the hospital was silent. Not one word was spoken. The only noises around was the noise of the car engine and Dipper's and Stan's breaths. They eventually pulled in to the entrance to the hospital parking lot. Stan parked in the middle which was a lot better than the front. The closer you are to the hospital the more likely chance somebody would see. They walked in the emergency room waiting room and they waited 20 minutes before he was called back. In the room with multiple hospital beds and chairs. Dipper sat on the far left. The nurse checked his vitals and now they had to wait for the doctor to show up.. Each space was separated by curtains that created some what of a room. "Dipper, why did you go out into the woods? You know that you were suppose to go down into Ford's lab when you hear creatures." Stan asked. He was whispering as to not make anyone else hear. "I am sorry grunkle Stan. I guess I just wanted to seem brave for Mabel. She seemed frightened. I thought that it was just a small creature making the noise but when I got to where the sound was coming from I saw this large, gray, and hairless creature. It's back was turned and it was preoccupied eating a mountain lion. I went to slowly back away from it to go back to the shack but I stepped on a stick and it snapped. The creature attacked me and I ran away and climbed up a tree and stayed there till that thing got tired of looking for me and gone back to what it was doing before I interrupted it." Dipper explained himself and what had happened. "You are very lucky that three scratches is all you got. It could've been much worse. You could've been killed." Stan lectured. "I know grunkle Stan. I'm sorry. I was stupid for going in the woods. Now my chest hurts and I might need stitches." Dipper said. He was ashamed of his actions. "Ford and I trusted you to go into the lab like your sister did. You let us down. Keep breaking our trust like that and eventually we won't be able to trust you. Don't you want to be trusted?" Stan questioned. "Yes! Of course I do!" Dipper immediately answered. "Then you need to follow our rules. We want to be able to trust you to do what's right." Dipper nodded and then the doctor walked in. He observed the wounds and determined that they unfortunately needed stitched up. They cleaned the wound and numbed the area. Dipper couldn't bare to watch them put the needle in and out of his skin. The processes was slow but because the area was numb he didn't feel any pain. They wrapped a bandage around his torso and was prescribed antibiotic ointment to prevent the risk of infection. Dipper was discharged shortly after. AS they walked to the car, he looked around and there were no people around so he felt a little bit better about what was going to happen. They got to the car. Stan opened up the driver's side door and had Dipper go up to him. "Buddy do you know hat is about to happen? Do you remember?" Stan asked sweetly holding onto Dipper's forearms. Dipper nodded too embarrassed and ashamed to even talk. "You don't need to act like this. It won't be as bad as you think. Yes, you will be embarrassed but that embarrassment will disappear shortly after. Let's get this over with." Stan said and stood up. He propped his foot on the ledge that separated the seat and the outside metal. He guided Dipper over his knee, minding his stitches. "I am gonna start now buddy. Just stay as still as you can and it won't seem so long." Stan warned. Dipper held his breath and prepared for the first swat. In a few moments he felt the stinging sensation left behind from Stan's hand. He was glad that it was just his hand and he wasn't using an object. He yelped as three swats landed. He didn't dare look around to see if anyone was looking. Being spanked in a public place was embarrassing even if nobody was watching. After Stan landed 10 more smacks down Dipper hoped his spanking is almost finished. He wasn't focused on the embarrassment as much as he was the pain. More swats landed and Dipper let out a tear. It was let out with a mixture of pain and embarrassment. After receiving two more swats Dipper was relieved when Stan put him back on the ground. His butt felt like it was on fire. The persistent stinging was difficult to forget and not to mention that he was still feeling embarrassed. His embarrassment grew when he saw somebody watching them. "I'm sorry grunkle Stan." Dipper apologized once again. "It's okay buddy. You're forgiven. Come here." Stan said as he held on of his arms out. Dipper gone into his uncle's loving embrace and listened to his uncle speak. "You did so good buddy. You made me proud that you handled those stitches so well. I am glad that you are okay. If you would've been seriously injured or worse that would've broken my heart. Be smarter next time." Stan gave him a kiss on the forehead. "I will be smarter next time. I will be going to shelter for now on." Dipper promised. " I'm glad to hear it. Lets go home. I know you have to be exhausted." Dipper got into the back seat and buckled his seat belt. Shortly after they left the hospital Dipper was no longer embarrassed. Of course his bottom still stung but otherwise things were back to normal. When he gets home he will apologize to Ford and Mabel then take a nap. He was pretty worn out after all.
