Seven Wings

(3) 과거

All around me, massive trees rose and disappeared into the darkness of the night sky. The forest air was fresh of recent rain and a soft breeze filtered through my hair. Everything felt so real. It was as if this memory was me traveling back in time and being there to feel everything, all the way down to the way the mushy ground felt between my toes. 

Lighting flashed so brightly and loud, I screamed and dropped to the ground to cover myself out of fear.

Opening my eyes, everything was frozen and running as if in slow motion. The trees went still, the insects and bugs stopped moving and the air took pause. Even my own heartbeat slowed. It was as if it was a wrinkle in time for the earth

The water droplet on the bushes leaf fell with slow abandon to the ground before shattering and becoming nothing. The air chilled, dropping in temperature so hard and fast that breath came out in gasp and my bones began to ache.

The shattering and cracking of wood behind me had me turning around. I gasped as a tree began to split apart admist the warped time, peeling open to reveal a man.

My heart lurched and a silent scream escaped when his fully black eyes opened slowly and he walked out from the tree, massive black feather wings stretching out from his back and I could only watch as my head tried to understand what was happening.

It was the man from the hospital room, the same one who gave me this memory.

"I am Namjoon but you can call me RM..." He was Namjoon.

Lethal power poured off of him. Something about him made me want to run. He was dangerous to the touch. He looked at me, and I felt his silent command to watch. All around me, trees started to split open. Spinning around, six more peeled open and showed the others that too were in the hospital room with me. All their wings, black and perfectly feathered. The same dark and powerful energy radiating from them.

My eyes locked onto one of them, and I knew it was V. His dark hair was wet with sap and stuck to his face. He stepped out of the tree and rolled his neck and flexed his fingers as if he was cramped, he flared his wings, creating a sudden gust of icy wind. Someones laughed startled me and I realized I was standing in the center of all them and it was as if they couldn't see me at all. Namjoon was the only one who seemed aware of me, but wasn't this his memory? He would know I'm here.

The one who laughed earlier had a wide smile plastered on his face, my eyes widening on the elongated canine teeth.

What the fuck are they?

What's so funny Jung Ho-seok?", Namjoon said with a chuckle in a language I shouldn't understand. The words were as smooth as silk and deep...otherworldly sounding. But as he spoke, I knew it as if it was my native language.

"Looks like we will be here for a long time. Finding the Orxery and hiding it will not be easy," Jung Ho-seok said.

"At least we get to take the Xillary out once and for all," said one of the others. His full lips pulling up in a smirk.

"No one can find the Orxery before us. That must be our number one priority. Hiding and protecting it will be the easy part. Once we find it we can adapt to this world and ride it out," cheers and chuckles went up, "But remember, protecting the Orxery and getting rid of the Xillary must come first. If we fail, the consequences will be astronomical. Nothing that could jeopardize our mission should happen. That means giving someone your Voclum Xar," Namjoon's eyes and voice hardened, "Protecting ourselves will be hard enough, we cant protect others and get distracted."

Voclum Xar? Orxery? I thought this memory was supposed to help me understand but it's only making me more confused.

"You are not supposed to understand our dealings, but to believe the impossible, as you are now the impossible too," a voice rang out through my head, unbearable pain choked me and suddenly I was falling again.
