I get to gym, my sixth period, as I arrive my teacher hands me a pass that says to go to the office. I turn around and head in that direction.

I reach the office and walk to mrs.lander's room, because it says to refer to her on the pass. She greets me with a smile.

Mrs.lander is the assistant principal at my school. She tells me to sit down and that I'm not in trouble, which calms me down and I stop thinking of something I've done wrong in this short start to the school year.

"Due to your high test scores last year we need to place you in appropriate classes. It seems as though we have made a mistake on your schedule and put you in the wrong science class. We will be placing you in the higher level chemistry class. This problem has occurred with numerous others so we are creating a new class." She said " we will be giving you a schedule today and tomorrow you will refer to room 324 for your new chemistry class." She continued.

I didn't know whether to be upset about my class change or not. I casually walked out of the room and turned a corner. I then felt a sudden thump as I bumped into someone else...

"I'm sorry" Kate said

"It's ok" I said with a little bit of anger but then realized this was equally my fault.

"I'm good, are you? We hit pretty hard" I then stated

"Yup, all good" she responded "where are you headed?"

"Gym" I stated

"Oh I'm heading to home ec. , The gym is right next to my classroom. We could walk together." She said enthusiastically.

We walked together quietly until we reached the path leading us to our classes. And she posed a question.

"Do you talk to Nylan a lot?

"No umm we just met yesterday.... And um I don't know him really." I said trying not to blush.

"Well he sure talks about you a lot, well since yesterday." She laughed

"Oh" I said filled with excitement and confusion. "Not to be rude... But how do you know? I saw you guys talking a little bit in science but..." And that's when it hit me, a wave of disappointment Nylan isn't going to be in my science class anymore.

"No it's fine. Nylan is my cousin, my parents both moved to Europe for their jobs my sophomore year so I decided to stay here and finish high school in the states."

I suddenly felt less worried about yesterday and then flirting... But I couldn't get over the fact that I wouldn't have science with him; I wouldn't get to sit next to him every day.

We talked a little bit longer about her parents moving before we reached our classrooms and diverged.
