I edged closer to the door but, I couldn't bring myself to open it. Miss Diosa was probably on her way so I decided to wait outside for a while.

Yeah that's totally the only reason my subconscious mind sassed me.

Shut up! I'm just a little nervous I snapped.

Yeah sure my mind replied clearly not convinced.

God, I'm going crazy. I've started arguing with myself, I shook my head at myself and found myself laughing.

"Why are you laughing?" Diosa asked with disinterest.

"Nothing" I said and she rolled her eyes, and entered her office with a saccharine smile on her face.

Hiding her true self like the chameleon she was.

I reluctantly followed, "Miss Russo, it's nice to see you again" Diosa greeted the woman with a short hug.

The woman who is apparently Miss Russo looked like she was in her mid-thirties. She had long black hair and striking emerald green eyes.

"Same here, this must be Zya?" She asked, giving me a little smile. I just stood there not reciprocating her gesture and gave her a bored look even though my heart was beating way too fast.

"Yes, this is Zya, she's so happy to know you want to give her a chance of having a normal childhood" Miss Diosa said, her eyes getting a little teary.

Wow! She almost had me convinced, she should have been an actress. I had always wondered what she was doing here. She was wasting her natural talent, the talent to manipulate people into believing something other than the truth.

I remembered all the movies I watched about happy endings, as a living miserable person I would like to tell you there's nothing like that.

You were either almost happy or never happy and I was the latter. "Zya, say hi." Miss Diosa smiled encouragingly and I frowned even more, it seemed to piss her off because her left eye twitched.

I mentally high-fived myself meanwhile, Miss Russo didn't seem to mind as her smile grew wider. "It's really nice to meet you Zya" She held out her palm and after few seconds of deliberating I took it.

"Straight to business then, Zya will stay with you for a total of three months and if you decide to adopt her then we will issue the paperwork." Miss Diosa monotonously said. She sounded like a robot that had repeated the same thing over and over.

"That's fine. I can't wait" She squealed. They were always excited until when they were not. It was a vicious cycle; foster home, orphanage and repeat.

I sighed not the least bit excited. I tried to remember my family but only flashes of the past came up, I gave up after failing to come up with a clearer image.

Looks like I'm going to pack extremely light for another rollercoaster of disappointment.

Hopeless future, here I come!
