"Leah, you can't just tell me that he's done bad things but not tell me what those bad things are." Joelle protested as her work friend lead her towards the drinks table. Leah poured herself and Joelle a few vodka shots each.

"Trust me on this. I know Jack," she muttered before downing the shots, Joelle following suit.

"Hate to break it to you but I know Jack better than anyone." The curly-haired girl retaliated, not liking the way that her supposed 'friend' was talking about the person that she grew up with.

"Fine," Leah sighed, being done with Joelle's nagging. Her voice was becoming tiresome for her to listen to. She needed to shut her up.

"He got me fired. I was the physio at Villa and he got me fired because he didn't 'like' me. It happened after I refused to sleep with him." Joelle almost choked on the drink that Leah had made her. It didn't sound like Jack but then again, he hadn't been in her life for the past six years.

"That doesn't sound like him." The small girl mumbled and Leah simply raised her eyebrows. She wasn't questioning her, was she?

"Let me go ask him." The girl started to walk away from her friend. Joelle was so naïve and didn't understand how social situations worked that well. Her only friend had been Jack so she never learned proper social etiquette.

"You don't trust me?" Leah called out, following the short girl who was surprisingly fast considering how short her legs were.

"It's not that I don't trust you but I know that I can rely on Jack. He's only ever lied to me once." Joelle informed the panicked girl behind her and when Jack saw his best friend coming over to him at a brisk face, his eyebrows furrowed.

"Did you get Leah fired after she refused to sleep with you?" The abruptness of the question and the bluntness of Joelle's tone caused Jack to choke on his own spit.

"Of course not. Is that what she told you?" Jack lay his arm over Joelle's shoulders, protectively. When he saw Leah earlier in the garden, he felt his heart drop. The darker-skinned girl was their ex-trainee physio and she was trouble but when he saw the look of happiness on Joelle's face upon seeing her friend, Jack couldn't bring himself to say anything.

"You got anything to say, Leah?" The Brummie challenged, calling out the girl that he had a history with. Jack didn't like people messing with his loved ones at any time but when they tried to mess with Joelle, he became a new level of protective.

"That's right," the taller boy scoffed when the brunette chose to stay silent. He knew that she was full of shit and he wished that Joelle hadn't been dragged into this. If Leah had kept her mouth shut instead of trying to make trouble, Joelle could've had another friend but he doubted that she would be going back to Leah anytime soon.

"She got fired after her supervisor, the senior physio, walked in on her trying to get into my pants." The truth finally came from Jack and to say that Joelle was shocked was an understatement. It seemed that Tyrone and John were also shocked, not realising that that's why she was fired.

"Leah, get fucked," the words escaped Joelle's mouth before she had a real chance to stop them.

"Tell the boss that I quit." Joelle was positive that the alcohol was to blame for her reckless nature. She was enjoying letting loose at the moment so she decided that she would deal with the consequences of her words later.

"Dance with me!" Joelle yelled over the loud music, pulling her best friend out onto the dance floor and that's when Jack knew that she was drunk.

Waking up the next morning was more difficult than usual for Joelle for she awoke with a pounding headache, the light from her thin curtains burning her eyes.

"Good morning sleeping beauty," the Brummie voice from beside her spoke at a normal noise level but to Joelle, it sounded incredibly loud.

"Can you please not shout?" The curly haired girl sat up in the bed that wasn't hers and took the painkillers that Jack had left on the bedside table for her.

"You wouldn't leave my side last night." Jack explained, seeing how confused she looked as she realised that she was in Jack's temporary bed that he was using whilst staying at the Jarrett household.

Joelle sat in the bed, trying to think back to the previous night when her thoughts were interrupted by the continuous buzzing of her phone.

"Oh my gosh, why can't people leave me alone? I don't even know that many people." The girl sighed as she picked up her phone, the low battery notification flashing in her face but that's not what caught her attention.

The chocolate eyes of Joelle Jarrett were attracted to the thousands of people who were now following her across all of her social media platforms. She was being mentioned in tweets left, right and centre and she couldn't believe it.

Her finger clicked onto a video that she had been tagged in on Instagram. She was intrigued and smiled to herself when she saw that it was a video of her singing from the party, the caption explaining that her best friend had been the one to post the original.

"Remember when you said that we were getting in the way of each other's dreams? Thanks, Jack for making mine come true." A grin found it's way to Joelle's face and Jack couldn't help but mirror her expression. Her happiness was his happiness and he was glad to be the one to help her accomplish what she had set out to do from such a young age.

a/n: he's really making up for his past actions 🥺

i promise that this isn't one of those fanfics where she becomes some sort of beyoncé level superstar and practically forgets that jack exists. it's not like that at all haha

also, you guys seemed to want my harry winks story so here it goes (sorry if it's too long)

anyway, one day i was watching harry and dele do that uefa video, i think it's called teammates? my mum came in and it was on the tv and i could see her confusion because i'm not technically a spurs fan.

we move on. my brother's football team do a quiz on zoom every week and i always make it up because i'm technically finished school and have nothing to do. i try to keep it somewhat football based and harry has been in it twice but everyone has assumed that this means that i fancy him (i do but that's not the point). would also like to point out that players like messi and ederson have made it more than once but i don't fancy them. anyway, everyone was teasing me about it and because i was protesting, my mum thinks that i like him and my brother (little weasel lol) has been making stuff up to wind me up. so yeah, i'm pretty sure my family know that i fancy harry winks now and i'm not sure how happy my dad is about it lol.

do your families know about any of your celeb or non celeb crushes?

enjoy and stay safe!

lots of love, e x
