You run a hand down your face in exasperation as you watch the clouded sunrise from your seat at the desk. It's been roughly two hours since Toga went to sleep, and judging by the approaching scent of dried blood and red velvet cupcakes, the blonde is awake and looking for you. Himiko's light footsteps climb the staircase two steps at a time. Golden eyes glance around the second floor library before landing on your form at the desk. The blonde gives you a Cheshire smile, her pointed canines glinting in the faint sunlight.

"Y/N!" Toga calls cheerfully. "How did you sleep?" The blonde takes a seat on the corner of your desk as you type away.

"I didn't." You reply dully. Pressing send on the email to Pop☆Step, you turn your attention to Himiko.

She frowns. "What? Seriously? Does your quirk have to do with not needing sleep or something?"

You glance at her from the corner of your eye before moving to answer another email. "No." You say uncomfortably. "I don't have a quirk of my own."

Himiko gasps in delight. The absolute joy radiating off the high schooler is immeasurable. "Does... Does that mean you have your soulmate's quirk? Show me! Show me!" The girl slides off the desk's edge to wrap her hands around your shoulders. As she jumps in excitement, your body jolts from the sudden movements.

You shake your head. "I can't control them. So I wear these quirk-suppressing gloves so I don't have to worry about hurting anyone." You wiggle your fingers in her face for dramatic effect. However, the blonde snatches your hand.

She looks at you worriedly. "Them? As in more than one?"

In this world, soulmates (truemates) are given one clue to find each other, and only one side of the bond is given the hint. Typically the pair will be made up of one of both sexes, a male and a female. That way the two could reproduce. However, as society's view on gender changed, so did the soul bonds. Either way, one of the two would be given the ability to use the other's quirk. Because of this it is practically unheard of for a pairing to be made up of more than two people. As a matter of fact, it was highly frowned upon for a truemate bond to consist of more than two people.

You look away, slightly ashamed of the existence of your truemates. "I have two." You quietly say.

The room falls silent. The student takes note of your crestfallen expression and a serious one overcomes her own surprised one. "Have you met either of them?" Himiko rubs your hand with her thumb comfortingly.

You shake your head.

"Do you want to?" She asks quietly.

There's a thought you've been avoiding since high school. Do you want to meet your soulmates? Back then the answer would have been a resounding "yes," but now? You feel unsure. Knowing the statistics, your truemates were likely Apex Alphas, leaders of their own packs. Would the pair be willing to share an Omega? ...Would they be willing to allow you the freedom to continue working to take down this wretched society? With the way the heroes have brainwashed everyone, you seriously doubt it.

You sigh. "With my line of work? A pair of knotheads would just drag me down." You look from your joined hands to Himiko's golden eyes. "But I used to want to meet them."

She nods in understanding. "I get it. It was nice to be oblivious to the real world, even if it was just for a little while."

You smile comfortingly, moving to rub her single hand between your two. "Enough with this depressing shit. How about we go out for breakfast?"

HImiko squeals. "Yay! Food!"
