I walked to my seat and dropped my bag onto my desk. I took my seat and Erica took her seat next to me. "Did I mention I love your dress," she said.

"Nope, but I knew you would," I said.

"How'd you know?" she asked.

"I've known you like all of my life," I said. Mr.Marshall walked into the classroom and looked around at everyone. "How was your summer?" he asked.

"Amazing," Erica whispered to me.

"I bet it was," I said. For the summer Erica went to her grandparent's house in Virginia.

"Good that you all enjoyed yourself, but now it's time to work for a whole school year," he said. Everyone began to boo him and throw paper balls at him. I laughed at how childish we all still were. "Let's start with homework," he said.

"Mr.Marshall why must we get homework on our first day of a new school year?" Erica asked.

"Ms.Bell I do what I am told because I have a higher power. If I didn't have to give homework I wouldn't," he said.

"Why not?" I asked cornering him with my words.

"With all this grading I don't have a personal life," he said.

"You can't blame that on your students work. You didn't have a life way before you became a teacher." Robbie said. Who know's why he was here, but he was.

"Very funny Mr.Cranshaw. How can I help you?" Mr.Marshall asked.

"My sister has my book and I have hers," Robbie said.

"Hurry up and switch," Mr.Marshall said. Robbie held up my spiral notebook and I opened my bag realizing I had his. I pulled it out and walked to the front of the class switching books with him. "His class is easy to pass," Robbie whispered to me.

"Thanks for the tip," I whispered back. I walked back to my seat and put my book in my bag.

"I want you to write a two page paper on your summer Is summer good or bad? What do you want to achieve this year and why?" Mr.Marshall asked. I wrote what he said down in one of my books.

"Isn't today a half day?" Erica asked.

"Yes, Ms.Bell," Mr.Marshall said and the bell rang to send us off to our next class.
