I came downstairs on my party outfit. "You look stunning baby girl." My dad said. "Thanks daddy." I said.

"You do look great Destiny." My mother said. I smiled an grabbed my bag. "Thanks. Is Robbie in the car already?" I asked.

"Yeah." My mom said. I did and awkward smile before leaving to go outside. Me and my mom always had those awkward moments for some strange reason. I got into Robbie's car "Was mom being weird again?" Robbie asked. "Yes as if studying what in wearing from the necklace to where one strand of hair is." I said.

"You know mom always worried." He said. I rolled my eyes and buckled my seat belt. "She's only like that with me through." I said.

"For one your the youngest and your a girl." Robbie said.

"I'm almost a senior." I said.

"Your not one yet." He said.

"Thanks for reminding me dwarf." I said. He rolled his eyes and pulled out the driveway. I looked at my car as if calling me to drive her, but I promised my mom that I would go and come with Robbie. My phone rang and it was my mom. "Hello." I said a little irritated.

"Just wanted to make sure you had your phone." She said.

"Well I have it." I said.

"Okay have fun tonight." She said.

"Thanks. I will." I said and hung up the phone. "Mom?" Robbie asked.

"Was she ever like this with you?" I asked. "Not that I can think of." Robbie said. I turned on Robbie's radio and Chris Brown's: Till I Die came on. I let the song play while I was jamming in the passenger seat. For some reason I missed sitting behind the drivers seat. I felt more in control when I was driving. It took my mom forever to give in and buy me a car. Why was she always so protective when it came me? I was going to be an adult soon and she would have to let go. Nothing is going to happen to me because she made me take martial arts as a kid so I was able to fully protect myself from any unwanted or unknown guest. Instead of shopping as a kid I was kicking butt and now that I have finished and am on to teenage girl things she's even more protective like I'm some 5 year old girl who can't defend herself.
