It was drawing close to the end of July, and what Kalim learned is that July 31st was Hazel's birthday.
Naturally, he would make a big deal about these things and want to party till he dropped.
But Hazel was a special case. He learned that she never celebrated her birthday at all. Because it brought her painful memories up until she was eleven when she learned she was a witch.
It would be hard to erase those memories, but he was determined to replace all those memories with happy ones.

Kalim had invited her over to celebration of Scarabia and he instantly had had his breath taken at the sight of her.
She wore a two piece mermaid dress that was black on sides and sleeves, red for the middle of the dress, with gold accents and a sweetheart neckline. Around her neck was a golden snake necklace, which looked so life-like.
The whole time Kalim stuck by Hazel's side, and he never failed to get a smile on his Desert Flower's face.
