The sound of growling came from behind us and heard Elanor stop. Following her and looking around with my hand on the hilt of my sword.
Waiting for something to attack us, but instead, I was almost thrown off my stallion by her kicking my horse. I cursed, holding onto the reins for dear life.
Looking behind me to see Elanor was following but waiting for something. That's when I saw her kick her horse, and watched panthers running after me. Seeing Elanor crouch, shifting in midair, attacking. Feeling the wolf inside me go crazy for wanting to protect her from the panthers. I turned around, heading back to her. Jumping off my stallion and shifting into my wolf. I heard a howl come from Elanor and other howls respond close by.
Smelling other wolves come to the battle. Attacking any of the panthers that got in the way of protecting Elanor, my mate, when suddenly, all the fighting stopped.
Watching Elanor hang from the ledge, a panther holding her by the fur of her neck. Her body being thrown, landing near us, running to her side. Shifting and kneeling beside her, trying to get her to talk to me. Her beautiful blue eyes closing. Picking her up in my arms, rocking her, when I heard a footfall behind me.
Looking up to see four strangers standing in front of me. I could smell that they were warriors, two men, and two women.
One of the girls slowly came over to me and she looked and smelled a little like Elanor. She kneeled down her brown hair and purple eyes, examining Elanor. I let her look at her, but when she was about to touch her. My wolf growled at her, protecting what was his.
"If you want her to live, please let us take her somewhere, somewhere she can get help." She said as I watch one of them stand beside her. I looked down at Elanor, her face beginning to get paler.
I loosen my arms around her and let one of them take her. Watching as the man and Elanor disappear, making me stand up, growling.
"Calm down! We just used some magic to teleport her back to the castle. Getting her to help a little quicker than riding there." She said, placing a hand on my arm.
"Who are you?" I ask, staring into her purple eyes.
"My name is Tessa and I am Elanor's sister. I know you may not trust us, but you are going to have too." She growled out.
Looking at the three who were left, "I'm Alex and I do trust you. Because you haven't decided to kill me, yet." I pointed out.
She smiled at my words, "Well, Alex this is Adam and Emily, we are part of Elanor's pack. We are here to help you on your mission to see the Lords. If you will please follow me, we will take you back to our castle." She said.
"What about our horses?" I asked, not seeing them here.
"One of our servants has already come, and transported them back to our castle." She said as we shifted into our wolves.
Tessa's coat was a light golden brown, her eyes were now a brighter purple. Adam's coat was a light brown with blue eyes, and Emily's was a light brown like Adam's, but she had bright silver eyes.
Following them to the castle, running down the road and then down a secret path. Watching as a huge stoned castle blended in with the forest. Crossing a stone bridge and in through the main gate. Guards and people all around, going on with their day.
We made our way inside and I shifted back. Noticing that my clothes were all bloody from attack and the others looked the same. All bloody and clothes covered in dirt. Following them into the castle, down the halls.
But the only thing on my mind was Elanor, wondering if she was alright. Walking into a big sitting room, a fireplace was going on one side of the wall, a rug sat in front of it. An oak desk on the other, bookshelf on the wall next to it. A table and chairs were in the center. A white wolf was lying down, sleeping on the rug in front of the fireplace. Adam and Emily walked over and sat down on the couch, silent. Tessa walked over to a man who smiled at her, giving him a hug.
"Father, this is Alex. He is part of the Royal Pack. Elanor is currently in the clinic, but Alex is here because of the mission." She told him.
"Elanor and Alex were heading here when they were attacked by panthers from the Dark Hunter Pack."
"Yes, I know why he is here. I am sorry you were attacked by those panthers, they should have never done that to you all. We have been having some trouble with them in the past couple of months. Also, my name is King William and this is my wife, Queen Violet." He pointed to the white wolf who was now shifting into a lookalike of Tessa.
"Hello, I welcome you to our home. Thank you for helping Elanor and her pack defeat those panthers. You have come at a wonderful time, tonight is our festival of the Ancients. If you would want to attend with my Elanor." She said with a warm smile.
"I would love to attend your festival. But Elanor was badly hurt and I wouldn't suspect her to be there." I said, sharing my opinion.
This time King William spoke up, "My daughter doesn't look tough, but she is on the inside. She is probably already healed and just resting up. Getting ready for the festival right about now. Also, Tessa will show you to your room. And a tailor will be there to help you dress if you would like." He explained to me.
"Thank you for letting me stay here," I said, bowing to him.
"No, I thank you for helping us with this mission. Tessa, please escort him to his room." King William said. Tessa walked back around the desk, escorting me to my room. We made our way to the room I would be staying in. Tessa didn't open the door but stopped me.
"My sister will be fine. And I thank you for helping her with the panthers."
I nodded my head. "It was nothing, also I'm just glad I was there to help. And what time is the festival starting?"
She laughed, "No, us young people don't actually go to the festival. I guess my father didn't explain it really well. Us young adults go to a club made for us. Find me at the festival and we can get you in with us."
She explained to me, smiling. "I can't wait! I will come and find you when I am done." I said. Tessa smiled, leaving.
I walked into the room, and it was nice. Oak bed, table, and chairs in one corner. A bathroom that had a private bath and shower. A closet which was somewhat empty in it. Going to the bathroom and I start a shower. Stripping down and tossing the clothes across the room. And stepping into the warm water, washing everything off my body. Soon, I was done and I wrapped a towel around my waist. Hearing a knock on the door, and I walked out. Opening the door to see Adam standing there with an older man behind him.
"Hey, we're here to get you ready for tonight." I let them both in. The older man told me to stand in the center of the room, already getting busy by measuring me.
"So, Adam have you ever been to the club I heard about?" I ask as he sits in a chair in front of me.
He smiled, "I have been a couple of times with my friends and mate. We have a lot of fun dancing and partying." He told me.
"You have a mate?" I asked, not noticing.
He laughed at how shocked I was. "You've actually met her, it's Tessa." I looked at him even more shocked.
"Well, we were school friends and we just clicked, I guess. But Tessa right now is my life. I don't know what I would do without her." He said, smiling.
"What about Elanor is she..." He laughed at my question.
"Nope, she wants to be the free bird. Actually, she was the one who created the whole club idea. She calls herself the Queen of Night, she owns the whole thing. No has ever danced with her, she won't allow it. People are allowed to watch her perform a dance, a couple of people do background dancing, but that is about it." I looked down, thinking.
When I realized I was already dressed. I looked at the old man with shock, but he just smiled and winked. Leaving Adam and me, seeing that I wore a black jacket with a midnight blue shirt. Black pants with leather shoes.
Looking really nice, and I then realized that Adam was now wearing a blue shirt, tan pants with black shoes. "We better go. I told Tessa we would meet her before the club started." Adam said as we left the room. Heading to the club.
