hoseok was sat at their dinner table—eyes narrowing and mouth clenching as he listened to lisa talking.
" i'm not joking; it was definitely them," lisa said, hands waving in earnest, "it was the same feeling from years ago." the same feeling whenever another vampire was near. their metallic scent and icy aura.
hoseok shrugged, trying to play it off nonchalantly but he was actually busy trying to piece everything together.
lisa wasn't lying he could tell that much —because she always had this wild look in her eyes whenever she had something honest to say, and was worried she wasn't going to be taken seriously.
" i believe you lis, i really do," hoseok began, " but even if they are back, there's nothing we can do about it remember? just leave it up to mom,"
lisa was about to retort but was interrupted by a curt knock against their door. hoseok and lisa exchanged wary glances. no one ever visited them unless they were accompanied by their mother into the house. frankly this was the first time both of them had heard a knock on that door.
hoseok stood first, moving towards the cabinet and pulling out a knife. he didn't like the whole idea of using it but it was for safety's sake. he inclined his head signally lisa to go forward; she was the more capable of the two, faster, stronger and ultimately having the better odds.
lisa gave a nod of affirmation before she trotted stealthily to the door. there was another sharp rap—restless and sharp this time. lisa pressed into the handle until it unlocked with a click. she only left it open an inch.
" what's your business," lisa mumbled.
the figure was hooded in thick onyx clothing from head to toe. the only thing she could make out were scarlet orbs staring apathetically back at her. she felt herself tremble slightly as a familiar feeling creeped up on her.
" so you are the mongrel girl," the boy muttered and his voice was raspy and cold. "tch, you don't look like much."
lisa deadpanned. was this guy judging her?
"excuse me?"
the boy shrugged and she caught the gleam of teeth as he smirked, " i just came to deliver something. i'm not going to bite; vampiric blood is disgusting."
and when he stared at her like that, eyes bathed in a red glow, something told her he wasn't the least bluffing. however she didn't react, masking her terror to be reflected on later cause that's how lisa did things— act now, feel later.
the boy's eyebrows rose slightly under his hood. bold. she would be hard to bend to will he realized. his glare morphed into an unsettling frown.
he dug into his sleeve and pulled out the letter he was tasked to hand them. " give this to your mother. dark times are just around the corner."
lisa glimpsed at the letter placed roughly in her clasp and when she flicked her head upwards to question, he was already gone.
with a puzzled expression lisa went back inside and hoseok rushed towards her. they both were staring at the seal that binded the letter. they had never seen anything like it.
