"Is he always like that?" Chaeyoung scoffed, watching his dark features disappear behind the door of the makeshift studio.
Three more shows had been completed since the first one and while Chaeyoung could say she had settled in the touring life, the rigid bunks and jolting of the bus no longer disturbing her sleep, Chanyeol hadn't. Even though he was the one accustomed to the lifestyle, it didn't mean that he didn't winge and whine at every given moment, every little inconvenience bothering him.
Gone was the playful Chanyeol she had seen on the very first day, and in its place the same old Chanyeol, only moodier than ever. The cracks that she had exposed by chipping away at his exterior seemed to of been glued back together, Chanyeol regressing back to his former state.
They had scarcely spoken since that first night, their only proper interactions being when he subtly gave her the hint to meet him in the back room, or in an unused room at the venue. Even then, they barely spoke.
While the quickies were enough for her at the beginning, she was beginning to get bored of them. She wanted Chanyeol like she had had him back in LA, the night when he had asked her to come on tour with them.
"Pretty much." Jongin answered unbothered. It must've been a regular occurrence for them. "He's always like this at the beginning of tours."
"But why though?" Chaeyoung fathomed, stretching out on the long sofa situated in the living area of the bus.
"He's a perfectionist. Things are more likely to go wrong in the beginning." He continued, not removing his gaze from the game he was playing animatedly on his phone.
Although she was settled on the bus, it in no way meant that she was content there. If not for the company of Lay, Jennie and Jongin, she would be bored out of her mind. There was virtually nothing to do inside the bus, and they rarely ever had time to explore outside the bus on their tour stops. Chanyeol wasn't kidding when he said they tried to squeeze in as much as they could in such a short period of time.
"Fancy a game?" Jongin asked finally putting his phone down in favour of standing up and switching the TV on.
Heaving a sigh, Chaeyoung sat up from her horizontal position, rubbing her eyes to try to stir her mind from its vegetative state. "Sure. It's not like I have anything better to do."
Despite video games not being her thing, she had taken to playing this basketball game with the boys that they were all obsessed with. Although she was undoubtably awful at it at first, she had recently got to grips with it, now being at least a decent player. She usually played with Jongin, but sometimes Lay would join them, and on very rare occasions, Sehun too.
As if on cue, Lay and Sehun entered the bus again, having stopped to pick up some food.
"Wanna play a round?" Jongin asked the two boys, handing Chaeyoung one of the black controllers before turning to the other two.
"I'm up for it." Lay confirmed, clapping his hands together as he took a seat next to Chaeyoung on the sofa.
"Sehun?" Lay asked, glancing up at the only remaining person who hadn't agreed. Things were weird between Chaeyoung and Sehun, the latter consciously avoiding any kind of contact. It was likely whenever she was included in the group activities, he would automatically duck out. In fact, Chaeyoung could almost see the gears in Sehun's brain working at that moment, glancing between her and the controller in her lap. When he met her eyes, she offered a small smile.
She didn't know whether he was just shy, or if he actually didn't like her, but whenever his eyes purposefully skipped over hers, she couldn't help but feel a little crushed.
