As the last week of the tour began, the prospect of going home weighed heavily on Chaeyoung. It wasn't that she wasn't looking forward to seeing her friends again, the group anticipating being whole again, it was just that she was unsure of where she would stand once the tour was over and done.
Over the past few days, there was something that was nagging at the back of her mind, a tiny voice that she just couldn't shut up. Chaeyoung couldn't help but wonder when they returned, what would happen with her and Chanyeol? They had come so far, too far for them to return to how they used to be. Now that she had gotten the full Chanyeol experience, there was no going back, the both of them too deeply involved with each other. At least, she felt that they were.
Jealous and spoiled by affection, Chaeyoung didn't want the bare minimum she used to be accustomed to. She wanted him pure and whole, as he was when they slipped into the quiet place inside his bunk; lost in time, lost in space, and mostly importantly, lost in each other.
Before departing for the tour, she found the idea of falling for Chanyeol laughable. But now it seemed entirely realistic, Chanyeol being painfully human and beautifully flawed, even his less attractive traits seeming somewhat endearing to her.
The only issue was that Chaeyoung had no idea whether Chanyeol shared her view, wanting more than a mere regular hookup. Even though they hadn't spoken about it, the past week or so had felt like a relationship to her, the small bursts of random affection turning into full on periods of affection, his eyes never straying from her. That kind of dynamic was what Chaeyoung wanted from him.
Being a girl who was very in touch with her likes and dislikes, she always knew what she wanted. But with Chanyeol, it seemed as though he never really out much thought into that matter, some instances hinting that he wanted more from her, and others showing that she was just a mere convenience for him. It was confusing for her, torn between being an optimist and being a realist.
But there were only four shows left, less than a week until she could return to her normal life. So Chaeyoung chose to push those issues to the back of her mind, promising herself that she would dig them out once the tour was over. After all, she should enjoy her spontaneous life on the road before it ran out.
And spontaneous life on the road was always ready to throw a new challenge at the group, seeming as though they had the worst luck in the world. A couple of days prior, the bus's air-con unit had broken, not ideal, but there wasn't much they could do with all the dates they had to make. However, the day of their fourth to last show was insanely hot, the bus absolutely steaming, nearly boiling the group alive. They were desperate to get out, the sweltering heat from the outside at least providing some relief with the cool breeze.
It was then that Jennie struck gold, finding just the sort of relief that they were craving; an outdoor swimming pool, secluded from the city and located in a nice green area, the leafy trees providing the much needed relief from the sun. The chill from the pool and a comfy spot on the lawn, snoozing away her hangover from the night before, sounded like a complete dream, Chaeyoung getting ready that morning with a bounce in her step.
Slipping on a baby blue bikini set, and pulling shorts over her lower half to at least retain some level of decency, Chaeyoung practically bounded down the bunk corridor, more than eager to escape the heat trap. She was leaning over her own bed, packing her bag to take to the pool when a wolf whistle sounded from behind her.
Lips curling into a grin, Chaeyoung spun around, her expectations met as Chanyeol came into view, eyes trailing over her exposed skin from his seated position in his bunk. His laptop was propped up on his legs, his body fully clothed, obviously having no intention of joining the rest of them at the pool.
