Hyunjin had never been more ready to kick his own ass.
Here his hyung was, nearly 3 years since they last saw each other in person, and Hyunjin was presenting himself in the unsexiest way possible.
A bruised face, sweaty and stinky from playing with other sweaty, stinky men, while wearing a dirty, wrinkled gym uniform. To make it worse, he couldn't even look Chan in the eye. Over the years, Chan... let's just say he gained some muscle. It was impossible not to notice those firm biceps of his, especially as they bulged so deliciously while supporting Hyunjin's weight. His thick, curly hair was longer now, and his skin tanner.
Honestly, Hyunjin could walk just fine on his own, since it was his face that got injured. But how could he miss getting front-row seats to such a yummy muscle show?
"Alright, Hyunjin-ah. We're here." Chan quips, sliding open the doors to the infirmary. "Why don't you go ahead and lie down on that bed there for me?"
'Fuckfuckfuck,' Hyunjin panicked. 'Bed?' 'Lie down?' How could his hyung just say those words so casually?! Hyunjin's heart thumped wildly and he nearly tripped trying to make his way to the bed.
Chan must've seen him stumbling because he appeared by his side in the blink of an eye.
"Oh jeez, sorry, Hyunjin-ah. That was stupid of me, telling you to walk on your own so soon. Forgive me, Jinnie?"
Hyunjin's heart couldn't help but flutter at the way his Chan-hyung tilted his head with a playful smile.
"'s fine, Chan-hyung," he mumbles, ducking his head to hide his flushed face.
Once Hyunjin was comfortably nestled underneath the white sheets, Chan excused himself to retrieve some first-aid items to tend to his wounds. Meanwhile, once the coast was clear, Hyunjin pulled the sheets over his head and squealed internally.
'What the fuck am I supposed to do?! What am I supposed to say?! He looks so handsome!!'
Hyunjin took some deep breaths and fanned his face in hopes of calming himself down. He cleared his throat and relaxed into the bed as best as he could.
Alright, it's fine, he reassured himself. His hyung was here now. Everything would be fine again. This was the year, he decided, that he would finally tell the object of his affections his true feelings.
"Hey Hyunjin, I'm back," Chan said. "Took me forever to find this thing here. Bloody thing was hiding in the bathroom. Anyways, why don't you prop your pillow and sit up for me?"
Hyunjin did as his hyung asked. Once settled, he fiddled awkwardly with his thumbs while Chan opened the first-aid kit and took out the things he needed to use.
"I'll take your pulse first, Hyunjin-ah. That's okay, right?"
"Sure," Hyunjin replied, extending his arm.'
Chan wrapped his long, slender fingers around Hyunjin's wrist. His touch was gentle yet firm, and Hyunjin had forgotten how badly he missed it.
Warm sunlight poured in from the windows; the peaceful silence was filled only by their soft breathing. Life was good again.
'If only we could stay like this forever,' Hyunjin thought, then became embarrassed immediately at how cheesy that sounded.
Suddenly, Chan mutters, "Hmm, it's faster than normal."
'Uh oh', thought Hyunjin.
Chan clicked his tongue and wrote something down on his clipboard. His pen suddenly stopped moving and Hyunjin's heart hammered when he sees Chan's sly smirk and teasing eyes looking up at him from the board.
