Eva’s POV
“Nervous?” Niall asks.
“This is my first job interview with an actual college degree—of course I’m nervous.” I’m interviewing to be an executive assistant for a CEO of a successful record company here in New York City.
“You will do great and you will for sure get the job.” He smiles and pats my back.
“Do I look professional enough?” I stand up and turn around slowly. I’m wearing a black and white checkered pencil skirt that ends below my knees, I matched it with a ¾ sleeve black blouse tucked into my skirt, and a pair of black pumps.(Outfit on sidebar) I want to look professional but still look my age… Harder than I thought it would be.
“You look amazing.” He moves towards me and places his hands on my shoulder.
“You will be fine.” He gently shakes me.
“If you say so—I guess I should get going so I’m not late.” I stand up and put my dirty plate into the sink.
“Call me when you’re done?” Niall asks/states.
“Of course.” I press my lips to his cheek.
“Have a good day.” I smile at him as I grab my black bag.
“Thanks.” He smiles and shoos me out of our apartment. I laugh to myself as I walk to the elevator and press the down arrow.
“Have a nice day.” The kind but creepy doorman smiles at me as I exit the building.
“Thanks.” I give him a small smile. I haul a cab and tell the driver where I need to go.
“First job interview in the city?” The driver’s voice startles me.
“Yeah, how’d you know?” I laugh.
“You look terrified.” He looks at me through the rearview mirror.
“Great.” I mumble to myself.
“They won’t notice—I’ve been a cabby for a while I notice things ‘normal’ people can’t.” He does air quotes when he says ‘normal’.
“You’re probably the nicest cab driver I’ve encountered since I moved here.” I smile.
“How long have you been in New York?” he ignores my compliment.
“A few months.”
“You will meet more nice cab drivers the longer you live here. Not all of us are creeps.” He laughs.
“Good to know.” I look out the window and watch all the people rushing to get to where they need to go. I never thought I would like the rush of a city, but so far I’m loving it.
“Here we are.” The nice cabbie stops the cab.
“Thanks, how much do I owe you?” I open my purse to grab my wallet.
