The next day I woke up from the alarm blasting in my ear, this time I woke up earlier. The reason being I wanted to go out for a run. It was Saturday, usually our first days of school are on Fridays. So I decided to wake up at 5:00 in the morning to go on a run and give myself alone time. I put my Nike airs on and grab my earbuds off my desk. I head down stairs and out the door, locking it behind me. It's usually once in a while that I will go on morning runs. I start by connecting my earbuds to my phone, and go on Spotify. Click on my daily playlist and from there I pace myself steadily.
I think about life and sort of create my own kind of world. It's still a little dark out but still, there's stars out. As well as the moon. I feel connected to nature in a way. But others might just see the stars and moon. While I see Gods beauty and how he has painted his own masterpiece. I go around the block at least twice. Then I begin to bring myself into a walking pace. To cool myself down, I sit down on the grass in my front yard. I begin to stretch. Once I finished, I just decide to lay down and close my eyes. It's already 6:30, so I get up and go inside. My dad is up, since he has to be at work by 7. I give him a kiss on the cheek and bless him with a good days work.
I headed up stairs and decided to take a shower. When I was done, I changed into new clothes and decided to go back to bed for another three hours. Since my mom had a doctors appointment at 10, and I was suppose to take her.
When I woke up, I got ready to drive my mom to her appointment. The day was gloomy like when its going to rain. But just in case it does rain, I put my black sweatshirt hoodie on. Then I headed down stairs, only to see my mom ready and also wearing a sweatshirt of her own. We decided to just go buy some breakfast at Chick-fil-a.
As we finally get to the hospital, we start walking into the waiting room. Of course knowing myself, I went to the vending machine to get a snack, and most importantly I tried to find Lily. I turned around to realize she had already been talking to my mother. I head my way towards them skipping, then I wrapped my arms around her with all my love.
"Hey Cutie! Its good to see you too." She laughed hugging me back.
"Oh I know. I love you Lily," I gave her a big hug.
"Someone is in a good mood I see," she says as she taps my arm, for me to remove it away from her.
"Yes ma'am, I so am. I'm just so happy to see you too, its been a while!"
"It sure has." Giving me those sparkling eyes look.
As Lily was talking to my mom, I decided to walk around the Hospital, take a look in the gift shop. As I was walking around, I decided to try and call Hazel. The phone rang twice, but there was no answer. I decided to leave a message through text, noticing that she had also texted in that same minute.
"Hey, sorry I am hanging out with some new friends I met. I will call you later and tell you all about it! Love Ya! ;)" The text message read.
Welp, there goes that, I thought to myself. Anyway, I finally realized that I was standing right out of the door. I opened it and head my way inside to look around and maybe buy something. Out of all the years that I have known this hospital, I have never been in here. Weird. I start by looking at all the stuffed animals, deciding whether I should buy one or not. Then I felt a buzz from my pocket in my pants.
"Honey, I am going into the room. They said only two people were allowed in the room, so just sit out in the waiting room until I am done." The text message read from my mom.
"Okay mom sounds good, I will go over there when I am done looking around, <3" I texted back.
As I sent the message and placed my phone back into my pocket, I looked up to see a teenage boy figure. He turned around as he grabbed one of the cute pink bunny stuffed animal. Jack Kingston. Here we go again.
"Well, well, well, look who it is. Poison Ivy right?" replied the one and only Jack Kingston.
"Ha Ha Ha very funny. Jacklyn," I smirked as I responded back.
"Okay look we can continue this behavior at school, but not here," he turns his back as he heads to the cashier.
"Wow, giving up this easy?" I respond back as I follow him to the register.
"Look. We may be enemies or whatever, but my step mom and dad just had their baby. So if we could just drop it, please." He concluded as he pays and looks at me with devilish strong eye contact.
"Oh, Jack. I am sorry, of course we can stop. How do you feel?" I ask with hesitation.
"Its fine, I mean I honestly don't know how I am suppose to feel you know? A part of me feels like I am mad at my dad but the other tells me I shouldn't," Jack replies as he stares at the gift bag in his hands.
"I get what you mean Jack, but don't hold this anger in you that you have with your dad. Just take some time talking to him and tell you how you feel." I stare at him hoping he is listening to me.
"Yeah, wow, thanks Ivy. That means a lot." He smiles and gives me a hug.
"Of course," I say in response and return the hug. Which was not weird at all, comforting actually.
But after we talked for a little while, told him what my part being here at the hospital. I told him about my mom getting checked up and I asked him what gender the baby was, even though it was obvious. But yeah, then my mom called and told me that she was ready to go. Realizing that I never went back to the waiting room. I said my goodbyes to Jack, walking back to the waiting room.
As I got to there, I hugged Lily once more. Then we went outside and lead ourselves back to the car. As my mom and I head back home. I noticed that she had been a little quite than usual. Not speaking a word.
"Hey mom, what's wrong?" I asked as we come to a red light.
"Huh, what? Oh nothing sweetheart just thinking," she chuckled. "You know your mother. " she said as she looked out the window.
"Um are you sure? Mom?" I ask again, and start heading my way into our neighborhood.
"No. I am not." She gazed my way with worry eyes.
Finally we arrived into our drive way. Not liking the look on my mom's face at the moment. I turned the car off, and faced my way towards her.
"So what is it?" I ask.
"Before I say anything Princess, just promise me you will accept it, and hope for the best," she glazes into my eyes putting her hand on my cheek.
"I promise mom," placing my hand on her arm.
"Here we go well." She breaths. "My cancer is growing back." She says with deep blue watery eyes.
In that same moment, I would have never expected those words coming out of anyone's mouth. I felt as if the whole world came crashing down on me.
