JAKE'S PUNISHMENT

Chapter 26 - BACK FROM THE HOLIDAY

It was the day Sir, Chloe and Lorraine were finally due home from their holiday, much to Jake's relief. Alex, Ryan and Tony sat Jake down at the kitchen table for a talk ''you know what we want to say to you of course don't you'' Alex said to him

''Yes Sir, you want to tell me to tell your father that you looked after me well during the week'' Jake replied

''That's right, as far as I'm concerned we treated you fine but he might get funny about it if he knew some of what went on so it's best he never finds out about it, understood?''

''Yes Sir, understood''

''And if he asks you have to tell him that I built the summer house myself ok? if you let me down you will be seriously for the high jump, I will punish you severely''

''Yes Sir'' Jake said, feeling bitter but resigned

''Good boy''

Around midday Sir, Chloe and Lorraine returned to the house

''Now maybe you'll cheer up a bit'' Lorraine said to Chloe as they pulled up in the driveway ''you've been a miserable cow the entire week, I wish you'd tell us what the hell is wrong with you''

''Nothing is wrong, I just think maybe I'm too old to go on holiday with you anymore'' Chloe replied ''I think this year should be the last time I come away with you''

''After your moody behaviour this time I agree entirely, next year your father and I will go away on our own''

Inside the house, Alex was excited to show them the summerhouse Jake had built

''Mum, dad I have a surprise for you'' he said looking pleased with himself

He took them outside and showed them. ''I hope you like it, I know you've been wanting to build one for years now''

''Oh my darling thank you, I love it'' his mother said, hugging him and kissing him ''did you build it all yourself?''

''Of course mum...well Ryan and Tone helped a bit but I did most of it myself''

''You did a great job son'' his father said ''well done''

''You like it too dad?''

''Sure I like it''

''And what about you Chloe, do you like it?''

Chloe looked at her brother and gave him a half-hearted attempt at a smile ''yes it's very nice, did you really build it yourself or did you get Jake to do it?''

''What sort of question is that? of course I built it all myself''

''How can you even ask your brother a question like that?'' Lorraine said with annoyance

''Easily, I do know what he is like''

''Well I'm hurt Sis, I really am'' Alex said

''Oh really Chloe, now you've upset your brother'' Lorraine said, she gave Alex a hug ''just ignore your sister she is just being a cow, she's been like it all week while we were away. I am proud of you for doing this for us, it's a lovely surprise'' Lorraine gave Chloe a harsh look while she hugged her son ''I don't want you to upset your brother again'' she told her sternly

''Whatever'' Chloe replied, rolling her eyes ''I'm going to unpack now, see you later'' Chloe walked away feeling annoyed, she knew Alex hadn't built that bloody summerhouse himself, she just knew it
