Room 117

Chapter 2 Hallucinations

The next day I got up and hopped in the shower as usual and then I walked around the corner and then John grabbed me and scared the crap out of me. John was laughing and he told me that my breakfast is made and it's on the table. I have to go in early this morning. My boss is having me come in so I gotta go. I then walked John out to his car and gave him a kiss and John said I'll see you later tonight I love you. As John was pulling out of the driveway I was watching him drive away and something caught my eye and it looked like there was a person or a figure sitting in the back seat of the car but I then sneezed and looked again and the figure was gone I then shook it off and went back inside to get ready for work. I was heading out to my car and I got a call from my co-worker Amber and she told me that I needed to get down to the hospital as soon as possible I asked her why what's going on and then all of a sudden I heard a loud static noise coming from the other end of the call then all of a sudden the call dropped and I said hello but there was no response just empty white noise. So once I arrived at the hospital I went inside and found Amber and I asked her what the emergency was. Amber looked at me with a confused look on her face saying what emergency are you talking about. I said you just called me and said I need to get down here as soon as possible. No, I've been checking up on my patients and I've been sending emails all morning. I said huh ok I'll see you around then. So I then walked into Emily's room and asked how she slept and how her morning was going and she said it's been going well. I didn't have that dream last night which is relieving oh really well that's good. Emily said yeah and all of a sudden Emily looked petrified while staring at me. I looked at her and I asked her why are you staring at me like that. I then felt my hair slightly move from behind me and my heartbeat begin to speed up. I was too afraid to look behind me because I could hear heavy breathing coming from right behind me and I slowly turned around to see what it was and I was relieved to see that there was nothing there. Emily quickly looked around the room while saying where did he go. She yelled out loud to stay away from her! I asked her who she was talking about and she said the dark figure from my dreams he was standing right behind you with the biggest smile and darkest grin. He kept twitching constantly . My anxiety struck up immediately when she told me this. I shook it off and calmed my nerves and I told Emily that the nurse would be in soon to give her; her medicine. I was then walking to the main lobby on the 3rd floor and something about room 117 seemed off, sorta otherworldly it creeped me out so much that it was on my mind all evening. I was then in the lunchroom at 2:47 getting me a soda from the vending machine and I saw my friend Rebecca sitting down in one of the chairs and I asked her how she was doing she had told me that she and her husband had been arguing over this past couple of months and she was thinking of taking a marriage counseling class for her and her husband but she told me the only problem was everyone she's talked to was either too expensive or it wasn't what she was looking for. She asked me how I and my husband have maintained such a long relationship and I told her that I and John are just always there for each other and we never doubt one another. Rebecca said I guess that makes sense. It's just that we argue over the littlest things and it's mostly over stupid stuff like the Tv or the bed. I then told her that when she gets home she needs to go and sit down with her husband and talk things out and be patient with him don't jump to conclusions and hear him out ok. Rebecca said alright thanks for listening to me. I said your welcome. I then went into our break room and sat down and grabbed my iPod and listened to owl city fireflies while scrolling through Facebook until it was time for me to clock out and head home. So I got into the elevator and I checked my phone to text my husband that I was on my way home. All of a sudden I got the exact same feeling I got while I was in Emily's room and I tried to ignore it because I knew that it wasn't real I then felt a tight aggressive pressure on my shoulder and it felt like someone was putting there hand on my shoulder the elevator door then opened and right before I exited the elevator I looked up at the reflected mirror and I saw a black figure standing behind me with his arm and hand out in front of him I jumped so hard I dropped and broke my iPod. I then started to walk away and I heard the door close behind me but it still felt like I was being watched I looked back at the door and all of a sudden I bumped into the Hospitals secretary Janet and she said are you ok you looked like you seen a ghost she said in a jokingly tone Janet was the type of girl who's always sad and touching things and was really annoying she had short hair and glasses and was kinda chubby I said no I'm just having an off day. She asked me how Emily was doing and I told her no she's actually getting worse but we have to have her in medical evaluation while keeping her on Zyolin I walked in on her foaming at the mouth Janet then asked if she was showing any signs of side effects? Not from what the test results are showing but something did catch my eye earlier today Emily mentioned that she was visited by someone two nights ago. She told me that he had no description. He was just a black figure but it was probably just her imagination or something like that. I was then heading to my car and then all of a sudden I felt a stabbing pain in the back of my skull I then stumbled onto the ground and hit my head on the floor but luckily my friend Amber was also heading home and she had stopped and helped me up she asked if I was ok and what had happened. I told her that I felt a sharp pain in the back of my skull and I collapsed onto the floor. She told me to go home and put some ice on it and take some ibuprofen. So once I had regained my balance I felt very dizzy and disoriented and I sat in my car until I felt better. I got a text back from John saying that he was working late tonight so he won't be home until midnight. I then closed the car door and texted him back saying ok love you. I put the key into the ignition switch and started the car and went to back up. I looked in my visor and I saw a figure of a man in the back seat of my car. I screamed and covered my eyes saying it was not real, it's not real. As I calmed down I slowly looked up at the mirror but no one was there. I was starting to get worried and curious on why I kept seeing the same figure over and over again. Could I be losing my sanity I thought to myself or could this job just be getting to me? I then took a breather and calmed down and I turned on Delilah 106.5 her voice always seemed to soothed me as I would drive home. I then pulled into my neighborhood and the whole street was completely dark and deserted of any lights or life. It looked as if no one lived there and it had been abandoned for years . I then pulled into my driveway and walked in through the front door and I set my stuff down and texted my friend Alyssa to see if I could get her opinion on what I was experiencing and she said it could just be that you're seeing things or imagining it you never know do you think you could be experiencing Schizophrenia or having a psychotic break. I was offended and I told her I'm not crazy Alyssa; Alyssa then told me to go and take a nice long hot bath and try and relax and then get a good night's rest. So I went into my room and grabbed a towel and got undressed. I pulled off my clothes from my sweaty body and put my clothes into a basket. I put my keys and cellphone on the dresser and then I put on a big shirt and some comfy tights and went and made dinner. Once I had taken the last bite I went into the bathroom and turned on the water. I went in front of the mirror and looked at myself and I noticed there was this long scratch down my neck and it was sort of curved and it was burning. I then got into the bathtub and I put my toe into the water to check the temperature and I laid down in the warm water and the feeling was soothing and relaxing. I didn't like how quiet it was, how the quietness filled the void. I then closed my eyes and it was dark and there was no noise or light anywhere. I then woke up and I was being pushed down underneath the water by a strong force and I looked up and I saw a black figure of a man looking at me and I couldn't breathe I then came up from underneath the water and I was coughing and choking I looked around the room to see who it was and no one was there. I then calmed down and got up and I let the water out and wrapped the towel around my chest and I dried off. I then put my shirt and tights back on I then started to brush my teeth and as I leaned over to spit the water out into the sink I leaned back up from the sink and I looked into the mirror to brush my hair and to my horror, the black shadowy figure was behind me standing over my shoulder I straightened up and turned around to scream but I couldn't then all of a sudden a dark black veil came over me and I collapsed onto the floor.
