Chapter 9: I Care About You.

Damian knocked on Raven's door to see if she was there. After a few minutes she opened the door. "Damian? What are you doing here?" "Can I come in?" She nodded and stepped aside giving him the space to come in. "We need to talk" he whispered. "Is everything okay?" She asked concern in her voice, he didn't answer. "Umm, when we got back I had time to think." He said sitting on the foot of her bed.
"Think about what?" She asked. "About us" "What about us?" She asked again starting to get worried.

"I realized that you being with me also means putting your life on the line. Like what mother did, and I can't see that happen you again. I care about you too much" he said tears forming in his eyes. "What are you saying?" Raven asked sitting beside him. "I'm saying that I don't think we can be together" he stated starting to cry. He found crying for weaklings but with Raven he can let go of everything and just break his walls. "What?" She asked, voice shaking, tears forming in her eyes. "Damian, please don't, please don't do this to me" she added putting her hands on his thighs facing him. "I can't bear to see you suffer because of me." He said looking at the floor avoiding her gaze. "Listen before we got together, my father wants to kill you, but I did anyway. I took the risk, why can't you do the same?"  She said starting to sob. "I can't, I'm sorry" he said then pulled her for a hug so tight she can barely breathe, but she didn't care, this was more painful than that. He pulled out then. "Listen I'm doing this not because I don't care, it's because I care about you so much. I love you" He said. She was shocked that he said that, only she imagined it on better circumstances. She didn't respond. He wiped her tears with his thumb and stood up to leave. "I'm sorry, Raven" he said before leaving her traumatized in her room.
